I wish! It would have been great to force conservatives to adhere to the most basic levels of human decency as a plague was spreading across the globe. Unfortunately for normal people, conservatism was the real plague all along.
What are you on about, we were asked to have face masks on public transport, in grocery stores, in hospitals etc. Lots of selfish people refused to have the decency to protect others from themselves, but still.
We had worse outcomes compared to Norway, Finland, Denmark. Not necessarily due to the inability of people like you to wear masks, but nothing to brag about.
As a swede: your opinion is in the minority, and it’s embarrassing that you have to invoke some sort of “Swedish superiority” mentality. Please stop importing the very worst ideas from the US.
Your freedom to make others sick with a deadly disease is not more important than other’s freedom to live without that disease. Also, you know there were re-usable face masks for those of us who were treating others with basic human decency, right?
Despite your dubious description of your totally real political orientation, you’d fit in perfectly with U.S. conservatives. Congrats on that. Be sure to wear a red hat if you visit so the normal people won’t bother you.
we had almost no facemasks and much better results
You’re comparing apples to oranges, and you’re throwing every other possible explanation out the window because it does not fit your point.
Norway, Finland and Denmark, whose demographic, geographical and cultural situations are much more comparable, recorded far fewer Covid deaths per capita than Sweden.
Sweden is a country with a lot of nature with people spread out. If you compare it with Denmark you’ll see much more people living much closer in a few urban centers. Just because one strategy worked for one country doesn’t mean that strategy works for other countries.
Furthermore, none of the things that happened in 2020 had any precedence, so the only human thing to do is to shut up and listen to the experts. As there were no precedence it meant the was no research in how to tackle it which also meant different expert opinions between cultures. A time critical thing like a pandemic doesn’t give you the opportunity to second-guess expert opinions, so listen to the “experts in charge” (health institute and the like) so they can form at least a somewhat congruent strategy in an unprecedented time.

I’m a social democrat, not a conservative. But I live in Sweden where we had no almost facemasks and much better results.
Personal liberty matters. Freedom matters.
Nevermind the environmental damage caused by billions of disposable masks.

Anything else is narcissistic.
