Can’t say I can relate, sadly.
Could you share some examples?

They never said I’d feel like a fool, but mentioned that I’d probably understand later in life, and they were spot on, but it comes gruadually.
As an example: when I started paying my own bills, I stopped taking endless showers and later started being frustrated when my kids do.
I also very recently started understanding why they hated smartphones with small screens as they typed so slowly, as I keep mis-typing more and more myself.
So I’d say it starts when moving out and the realities of life hits you square in the face, and then the rest come dripping slowly over time.
Becomming a parent slaps you with another big load as well.
Finn is the dominant one by a longshot.
A few positions could be posted on nav.no (government social security firm), but it’s not really worth checking.
For language, if you’re serious, I’d probably find a Discord channel for people wanting to learn. It’s literally how I met the missus.
We all learn differently, but finding someone with a shared hobby that you can talk to while doing said hobby is effective. We had gaming in common.
Talking is, at least for me, a million times better than reading and studying.
Best of luck to you, and let me know if you have any questions.
And: it’s not utopia here. We have issues as well. Just make sure you remove any rose tinted glasses before comitting countless hours.
I’ve been trying to get a hold of Magigoo for TPU, but it’s chronically sold out locally.
Have you tested it on smooth PEI, or just textured?
Appreciate the feedback!
Appreciate the insight mate! Much appreciated!
Tape seems to be a cheap way some of the “older” guys run with, so I have to test it at some point.
Yeah it’s tricky, but not impossible. We are small, but not small enough for most jobs to be handed out based on nepotism.
I’d say the main hurdle is language. If you don’t speak Norwegian, or another Scandinavian language, the selection of jobs shrinks considerably.
If you actually wish to move, I’d recommend looking for jobs on Finn.no and apply when something relevant pops up.
Being non-socially invested doesn’t disqualify you.
Let me know if you’re serious and want some help.
Cool, well then I can at least share what I went with that has worked really well: GMKtech N100 NUC from Aliexpress with 16 GB of RAM.
It’s hosting Jellyfin with transcoding, PiHole, Home Assistant, Heimdal, a Valheim server and loads of other small LXC’s in Proxmox.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen it break a sweat.
The NAS holds the .arr stack and Qbit, but that’s it.
I cannot speak to the longevity of it, but I repasted the CPU once I got it and it’s chilling below 45 degrees all day long, so I expect it to last for many years. I also enabled C-states to get idle consumption as low as possible, around 7-8W.
Best of luck with whatever setup you end up with mate!
I run a 4 bay and a N100 NUC.
The Synology is almost a pure storage machine. Works really well with Proxmox on the side. Not a single file has made it kneel yet, and I’ve thrown some high bitrate badboys on it.
Is not upgrading the drives an alternative?
I feel like you sacrifice a lot of practicality removing the NAS, such as automatic backup from phones and very easy remote access.
Personally I also prefer separating data and software, so I don’t lose it all if a component fails.
Just my .02
Ah, welcome to the Nordics!
Hard as fuck to get in, or so I’ve heard.
The shipping might be slower than you’re used to, but we check of on the rest.
See you soon?
You have my deepest condolances.
Come to the Nordics for a coolcation next year, but stay safe untill the heat wave passes my friend!
IPA is on the list of things to test. Cheers mate!
Thanks for the advice!
I ran a cold bed this time, but I’ve seen some say warming it up for removal also works.
So many things to test in the future!
Yeah you’re probably right. Different blends give different results.
Thanks for the filament advice. I try to purchase as locally as possible, but Geeetech is not etched into memory as a no-buy ABS!
I was already running at 30°C, but appreciate the advice nonetheless!
I’ll try completely off next time
Cheers mate! Much appreciated
I see many use glass still. Old school way of doing it, but if it works then I guess it’s good!
I’m mostly leaning towards smooth PEI with glue for my next print. Hopefully that will be better than textured with no release agent. Fingers crossed and thanks for the feedback!
Wait what?
The freezer trick I’ve heard of, but baby powder?
Applied before printing then, I guess?
My printer is enclosed and I’d wory about the aux fan blowing it everywhere.
Even with 0% fan for first layer, I’d never be able to perfectly distribute it under only the print…
This is the first time I’ve had this much issue removing a print.
I knew it would stick fairly well on the textured PEI, but this was a whole new level. A bit surprised I didn’t peel it, to be honest.
I’m leaning the same direction as those people: Buying a stick and keeping it around for those few times I do use TPU. PETG and PLA is still 98% of what I print, and they both come off easily on textured and PLA easily on smooth.
The question I’m stuck with though: Textured with glue or smooth with glue for TPU?
Could be interesting to play with in the future, once my confidence level on the material rises a bit.
Thanks for the tip!
Sounds rough my friend. Mine were trying to guide, but without yelling or consequences.
Glad to hear you kept the good bits and do allright for yourself these days!
