I’m not sure if those people actually want Linux, then.
I get it, but no one is stopping asus from making the drivers public.
I also get why asus likes the “blessing” of Valve for marketing purposes, etc. But I have a bad feeling that this could result in a new part of the linux world where hardware manufacturers don’t contribute to the driver ecosystem.
I don’t want a world where the only sensible way to run your rog ally is through SteamOS and all the other distros have driver issues.
I’m looking at all these “news” reports and think to myself: “… but bazzite is already there! How is this news?”
EndeavourOS is nice, but I wouldn’t suggest noobs to start with an arch based distro.
29·19 days agoYep. Remember that the deck is a PC, so you’d install them, not “sideload” anything.
You’ll still most likely need to run the setup with a compatibility layer (i.e. WINE/proton). Just add the setup as a non-steam game and install it via the steam client (in Desktop mode)
