I know, but it don’t change that the time of watching YT without tricks, disinfectant and gum gloves has gone. It needs alternatives for the same reason we use Lemmy or Mastoon instead of Fakebook, X, Reddit…

I use FreeTube, but it also depends on Invidious instances. If YT blocks the instance also Freetube wouldn’t work, it show the Thumbnail, but on’t play the Video… My workarround is using the SMplayer as extern player, which almost works, when FreeTube can’t.

But I think sooner or later there are not longer YT Front-ends, because Google kill them all, the only thing is to use an YT alternative, instead of an Front-end. The only which I know which can be an alternative in the future is Odysee, it depends on the creators which want to monetize their work, without all the Google crap, clickbaits, trackers and ads. Odysee permits to monetize in a more fair and clean way.

Until now is watching YT with a good adblocker, watch Videos embedded or search the Video with Andisearch y watch it there sandboxed in the search results.

AFAIK it uses several engines (DDG among others) with which it ssearch the relevant information, using a own index of reliable sources. As said, I use it almost since the beginning because of it’s really good privacy, good results and reliable answers. It’s not a good ChatBot, it’s what it is for, as a search assistant, capable of summarizing and explaining content to specific questions and it does it very well, with links to all sources for further information.

It is not that difficult to prevent private and important data from being leaked. It’s not about becoming invisible, just slow browsing with TOR behind a VPN with difficulties on many web pages. We must differentiate between private data related to the person and the activity, this naturally must be hidden or spoofed as much as possible, and on the other hand technical data, necessary for the pages to be able to display the content properly (screen resolution, public IP to display the correct language, operating system, desktop or mobile, etc.). This is data that does not compromise privacy when it coincides with millions of other users. All other can be blocked with a good ad/trackerblocker and some common sense to avoid the existing traps and dirty tricks used by the compañies.

I don’t believe that Win10 will die, due to the huge amount of users and companies. I think that it will be the same a with Win7, which survived several years it’s announced end. There are still users which can’t even update to Win11 with a relative new computer (without tricks), not because the lack of sources, but because it’s specs don’t appear in the list made by M$ of supported specs, as in my case with a 3 years old Laptop, because my AMD Radeon 9425 don’t appears in this idiotic list, offering to buy a new PC to use Win11 🤬💩

Vivaldi use it’s own sync server since ever, Google don’t permit Google sync for other browser than Chrome itself, it’s a degoogled Chromium and no really need of extensions, due to inbuild blocker and other tools, even Dark Mode for websites and Page Filters. It has less relations with Google than Mozilla, where your account data is shared with Alphabet (a no-go for me). But yes, it’s the only Chromium usable related to privacy. Vivaldi’s business modell isn’t based on ads or third party investors, It is the only EU Browser, apart the KDE Konqueror, on eye level to the US (Chinese) hegemony of big Companies (my Main reason to use it)
