Ah gotcha, thanks! I’ve heard you should run at a pace at which you could still keep a conversation going. Probably gets to the same idea
What is a zone two run?
Right? Holy shit. I am surprised and a bit perturbed by how many people are on board with sexism in this thread

2·29 days agoHmm, yeah. I see what you’re saying, but it also doesn’t feel quite right to me to take a more specific critique, of the way these people are interpreting and implementing their religion, and use that to make a broader negative statement about the religion at large.

41·30 days agoYeah, of course not. But Westboro Baptist Church being what they are doesn’t make Unitarian Universalists just as bad, despite both sharing a common ancestor in Christianity. By the same logic, saying “Islams are dumb sexists” is just ignorant.

153·30 days agoThat is painting with a broad and uncharitable brush. I think you’ll find that many religions, Islam included, are interpreted by some followers the encourage pretty heinous behavior (see also the FLDS, Westboro Baptist, and so on). But by the same token, there are many interpretations of those same religions that are very progressive. Maybe the problem isn’t religion itself, but the ways in which religious institutions are easily manipulated to justify and support sexism, racism, etc.
Yeah, a much more normal way to say that is “I was dealing with a medical condition. It’s no longer an issue, but it’s a bit personal, so I’d prefer if we didn’t get into more than that.”
There are residential neighborhoods in cities though, where straight roads with roundabouts and other traffic calming makes more sense than a curving a road, for the purposes of lowering driving speeds. Neither is better or worse inherently, we should just tailor solutions to the environment they’re needed in.
There’s a flipside too though. Straight lines aren’t great for suburbs for the speed reason, but once you reach enough density and the roads get narrow enough, grids make planning easier, and navigating easier for pedestrians. Roundabouts are a nice way to slow traffic through straight roads
Only from above. When you’re on foot, grid systems feel plenty variable and lively
Haha that very much feels like a case of justified hierarchy

0·2 months agoUp to a certain point. If an actor or artist is just like an asshole, that’s fine. People are allowed to be curmudgeonly. When it crosses the line into hatred, like JKR and Kanye, then I’m out.
