Catdog

It’s not the most obscure, but I remember loving it so much and as an adult (with friends that watch plenty of cartoons) it doesn’t ever come up.
It’s impossible to tell from the picture and I have no experience with it, but have you checked for a cap labeled “engine oil”? 13:10 in the video you posted

That video is more of a (justified) takedown on sponsored content on Veritasium from 4 years ago and yeah, sponsored content sucks. I’m not saying that Veritasium is perfect, I’ll just have to keep an open mind while watching their videos going forward.

I’m surprised to find so much Veritasium hate on Lemmy. I always thought Derek and the team did a good job as far as edutainment goes. I also don’t like clickbait titles, but it’s worth noting that all of the videos are a real production with a crew of people who work full time and deserve to get paid.
There’s so many different jobs and situations out there, not everything is doom and gloom with employment or work. I assume you’re in school, which usually takes up just as much (if not considerably more) of your time commitment.

Serious question, what is the best solution to this? My household has three cars, the newest is from 2008. It makes me nervous as to what to do if I wanted a “new” car (I’d never buy an actual new car, just new to me and made in the last ten years).

Depends on how wrong you’re willing to be.
I’ve got one of these. Aka Snowsky echo mini, fiio’s brand aimed at accessible/fun audio. It still has the pedigree of a higher end digital audioplayers, including a nice DAC and 4.4mm balanced output. Its also got a firmware update to be used as an inline DAC.
Qualms: lower end Bluetooth codec and lack of gapless playback.
I wouldn’t use it if Bluetooth was a must, but I’ve enjoyed using it with a cheap pair of IEMs.

Spicy hay got one point?

I understand the sentiment.
Even worse, when you explain these things to American citizens, they get defensive and will even justify the harm they have inflicted.
I doubt you’re going to find a consensus amongst Americans like that. We disagree on a lot of stuff, especially when you look at the younger(<35) crowd.
Like you say, the chickens are coming home. You’re probably going to see more and more fucked up stuff over the next few months. You don’t have to be sympathetic.

I took mine over summer break at my high school (birthday is at the end of the spring semester, so it was either that or wait 3 months). But it was definitely offered as just another class. Midwest, BTW.
Only once, but they caught me and I got fired for being “wildly irresponsible”. It was just for like 15 seconds, the bus barely went off the road.

That’s Montgomery “Lightning” McQueen, you uncultured swine. [/s]
Also his eye is right there drooping under the windshield. He’s definitely seen some better days

What is that purple dinosaur thing?

Hell yeah, +1 for the guy with the weirdly shaped head

A lot of the “good advice” gurus just try to hype up the boring, well-known answer: get good sleep, eat well, minimize debt, diversify investments, etc. I appreciate it, it’s nice to have some motivation for doing things the “right way”.

I wish, I could get behind some hopeful conspiracy theories. “Things aren’t bad because people are greedy asshats, they just want you to see there’s a better way and look for alternatives” “The world order has been taken over by compassionate everymen, they just have to do bad things to keep up appearances”
Didn’t realize this was a recreational drug on it’s own; I always just knew it was synthesized in the liver when cocaine and ethanol are in the blood stream.
