Curious what kind of alarm/ringtone people are rocking. Gentle and subtle tunes or straight up horrible loud alarms?
I use the great fairy fountain from old school Zelda (ocarina of time specifically) as my wake up alarm, as it’s very peaceful to wake to. But still nerdy. It went with Navi going “hey listen!” Every time I got a text ;)
Mostly I use my watch alarm tho, which is vibration that starts gentle and gets stronger, and that’s plenty.
If I get shocked awake I have a panic attack. I try to avoid that.

I was using the Dragonzord “flute” for a while but switched to the siren from Silent Hill. My partner hates both but if I need a wake-up alarm I need it to flood my body with panic adrenaline.
My parents looked for like six months to find me a Dragon Dagger. One day I was pulled out of school early and I thought I was in trouble. My mum brought me outside to her car, stood at the rear for a moment, then unlocked the trunk. I could hear harps playing and angels singing as it slowly revealed a new-in-lunch Dragon Dagger. It played three songs and had a slashing sound. I was the happiest girl in the world.
I didn’t use its proper name because I didn’t think people would know what I meant but I see now I was foolish.
I was OBSESSED. That hunk was my favorite Power Ranger. My mum made me a Green Ranger costume complete with an EXTREMELY well-made chest shield gold thing for Halloween even before I got my Dragon Dagger. I hear he was a dick on set (the American one) so that makes me sad. But alas.
I still have my Dragon Dagger.
My uncle (very near my age) also had a Green Ranger costume, I think there was a lot of gold lame involved. We generally weren’t allowed toy weapons though so I’m envious of yours.
My alarm is just the default android one, but my text tone is the windows XP fatal error sound.
Love this dude
Birdsong. Sometimes I genuinely can’t tell if it’s real birds or I snoozed my alarm - this morning it was real birds.
It’s funny how, back in the day, getting a new phone meant immediately going through all the ringtones to pick the one you liked best. Nowadays, most people - myself included - just leave it on the default. I honestly can’t remember the last time I changed a ringtone or message tone. I might have on my old Nokia N73, but not since. The alarm tone I do change, though - I don’t need to be screamed at first thing in the morning. Just the vibration alone is enough to wake me up.
That said, I’ve actually been considering changing the ringtones for both of my SIM cards. Apparently everyone here has a Samsung, and nobody seems to change their ringtone - so every time I’m at the hardware store and a phone rings, you get like seven builders all pulling out their phones at once. Since I don’t particularly enjoy talking on the phone, every time I hear my ringtone - even if it’s from someone else’s phone - it gives me this little PTSD flash.
The music that plays when Sonic the Hedgehog is drowning. I have never missed an alarm with that sound.
Effective, but I don’t think I could start my day with such existential dread…
I used to have Buddha Bar - Solitude as my alarm, but after a month or so I found myself associating it with waking up and it lost its calming effect on my morning. I’ve since resorted back to whatever my phone defaults to for minimum damage to sounds I like.
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
works every time.A cuckoo bird that gradually increases in volume.
Just saw your comment after I left time with the same thing haha
I sampled Beastie Boys - Get it Together. The break where Q-Tip says, “Phone is ringing…oh my god”, and then a little part of chorus after that “get it together…see what’s happening” looped.

I have my alarm set to Good Morning Jazz playlist via Spotify.
I prefer it over most other alarms since it’s less abrupt.
I also have a smart lamp set to turn on at the same time. It slowly gets brighter at a set schedule.
