When my parents find out what my mates look like, they become suspicious of them instantly, or dislike them, even if they were fine with them until they saw what they look like.
I’ve asked an AI to make an image based around the aesthetic my mates have. As you can see they’re completely normal looking so I have no idea what’s triggering them.
Is OP the one who’s been posting obsessively about chavs and roadmen recently?
Yes, talonflame, and little puni or something. Their other new obsession is canals being used for “Russia style” murder.
It has to do with modesty, but also with how they act.
This is what most people don’t even understand.
Judging by the fact you call your friends mates, and from the fades, hoodies, and jewelry in that AI generated photo, I’m wagering a guess that you’re British and your parents think your friends are chavs.
One of their three posts is about drowning in a canal. British for sure.
You made an ai image to prove your friends don’t look like a bunch of low forehead thugs???
I’m going to side with your parents on this one.
If you can’t show a real photo then your parents are right.
I’m not going to post photos of my friends here for their own privacy. Duh.
Privacy? A picture of a random bunch of guys standing on a street, is not invading anyones privacy. Especially if you ask them first. Nobody knows who you are, who they are, or where in the world you are.
You want people to pass judgement then give us something real to judge, not a fake photo.
Tell me you don’t understand privacy on the internet without telling me you don’t understand privacy on the Internet.
I’m not going to post photos of my friends here for their own privacy. Duh.
Just a note here lol, this is lemmy, generally speaking, Putting something AI, automatically puts everyone into a dislike position.
Second I’d say the agreed concept here… it being AI… means it’s only your interpretation of their style, what to you is normal may or may not stand out massively to your parents, maybe not. If there actually is a detail that you think is normal, but is a huge red flag to your parents we wouldn’t have access to that. So in short, the pic is useless no matter what, you may as well have just given a vague description of it to us. (Hell just whatever prompt you gave to AI would probably have been just as good),
anyway as far as that goes, it doesn’t really matter I guess, maybe your parents have a weird bias against a certain dress style, or maybe some prejudice. Or maybe there’s a swastika tattoo on each of your friends foreheads that you’ve just never noticed.
They’re good mates, they haven’t hurt anyone and are as loyal as can be.
They also aren’t in the photo you posted.
Is this an academic question? As in, would you like to discuss how prejudice is formed?
If not, and this is a cry for help to deal with unreasonably controlling parents, then I say: don’t waste any more energy on it, even if it bugs you, which is more than understandable. But! People - parents included - have no right to choose our friends for us.
You do realize the photo is an ai fake. No real information has been provided at all.
For all we know this is a 12 year old hanging out with 20 something gang members.
And your advice for them is to rebel???
Case in point.
They aren’t gang members, they’re 30-somethings I grew up with in school.
So you are all 30 somethings and grew up together, and yet only now are your parents meeting your friends in person?
I have now idea whats going one here, but it doesn’t seem legit. I’m done with you.
I like the black guy with a white head
