To reiterate: ifyou are given a summons by the court, in person attendance is mandatory (applies to all 13 provinces). If either the lawyer or judge has selected you as the juror and being presented with evidence relevant to the case: what types of cases were you assigned whilst being a part of the jury? Also, what are the consequences if individuals failed on showing up to court at the appointed date in Canada?

In answer to your first question… assuming Lemmy represents all of Canada… all of them?
For the second, failure to appear is contempt of court. In practice, failure to appear for jury selection usually just results in your name going in the next pool, as long as you have a reasonable excuse. Failure to appear in court once selected though… that’s serious. Courts can still be very lenient if the juror appears to have made a best effort to appear, but just blowing it off can result in fines or jail time at the discretion of the court.
When I was at selection, the judge issued warrants for the people who were summoned and failed to appear (or failed to arrange to be excused).
