The cease-fire is over, but not before it offered a glimpse of the war’s horrors to Palestinians in Gaza and people around the world.

As residents used the fragile truce to find aid, search for loved ones under the rubble, and head home to survey the destruction, a particularly disturbing scene emerged.

Seen in a video that moves through the abandoned and disarrayed hallways of the pediatric intensive care unit at Al-Nasr Children’s Hospital in northern Gaza were several babies whose unattended bodies lay on separate hospital beds. A blurred version of the video was shared widely on social media this week, a grim and graphic contrast to other scenes of families reunited as hostages and prisoners were freed.

In a piece he reported, Mohammed Baalousha, a journalist with the Emirati TV channel Al-Mashhad, said he found the decomposing infants when he entered the pediatric ICU in the health facility in Gaza City. The hospital’s staff and critically ill patients were forced to evacuate in early November as the Israeli military focused its ground assault on the city, with hospitals under fire.

NBC News obtained raw footage from the channel and has reviewed its contents.

The world needs to act to curtail Israeli crimes against humanity.

At the very least sanctions and boycotts need to be enforced.

Don’t know if it’s Lemmy’s low userbase or the libtards accounting for the low upvote count, but I totally agree at least. Jews being slaughtered during WWII definately doesn’t give Israel the right to do the same to others any way you look at it.

Before someone tries to make the claim, no, the hospital staff couldn’t have taken the babies with them. These were premature babies in oxygen-saturated powered incubators, which could not be moved.

Possibly if a fully set up ambulance was available for each baby, it could be done, but the IDF has been bombing ambulances too and there aren’t that many available anyways.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

A blurred version of the video was shared widely on social media this week, a grim and graphic contrast to other scenes of families reunited as hostages and prisoners were freed.

In a piece he reported, Mohammed Baalousha, a journalist with the Emirati TV channel Al-Mashhad, said he found the decomposing infants when he entered the pediatric ICU in the health facility in Gaza City.

UNICEF also warned in early November that “children in Gaza are hanging by a thread, particularly in the north,” and that Al-Nasr Hospital had reportedly sustained damage in an attack that impacted lifesaving equipment.

Doctors at Al Shifa, one of Gaza’s largest hospitals, which faced intense bombardment and raids by Israeli forces last month, struggled to keep dozens of premature babies alive due to power outages.

Both health officials said they notified the International Committee of the Red Cross to help with the patients left behind in the evacuation process but said that the ICRC has been unable to commit to working in such conditions since the beginning of the war.

“This is more evident when taking into account that the IDF assisted in moving newborns from the pediatric ward of the Shifa hospital to safety, as well as provide Israeli incubators in the process,” the statement added.

The original article contains 1,405 words, the summary contains 213 words. Saved 85%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

I went down that rabbit hole when I was trying to understand why the far right was interested in supporting Israel while simultaneously being anti-semitic and working alongside Nazis. Most people in the middle or left don’t understand how crazy this is. Many members of our government are literally trying to enact some biblical nestradamus bullshit to bring forth the end of times as described in the book of Revelations.

I’m a liberal Jew so it took a lot of reading to understand what the fuck they wanted end times to come for, but I guess it is so that they are then saved? As a non-Christian this seems weird and obviously cult-like but here we are.

Baptized Lutheran shortly after birth, but never attended church. It’s a long and vaguely racist family story. Don’t consider myself Christian.

My in-laws are fundamentalist end times folk, and it took years to try to make sense all of that. I love my husband, but it’s a lot to take in. And my brain naturally tends to try to make sense or analyze things, or figure out what’s motivating people.

Their older generation are very interested in controlling the people around them and they’re very good at it. I think it’s control and authority at the heart of it, with a helping of genuine trauma that makes death and reward look appealing.

Actual quote that I’ve heard a few times: “Life is hard, short, and cruel - and then you die!” \ Let me just say that Christmas visits can get really weird.

On a lighter note, they mailed us a Tribulation Survival Care Package for the 1999 x-mas, ahead of the Y2K impending millennial crisis. That was actually sort of fun, and the shiny space blanket came in handy a few times.

Odd that they would mail you a survival package when their goal is explicitly to kill everyone on earth.

Something not catering to your sensibilities doesn’t translate to “inappropriate”. There’s clear criticism in that comment. Do you want to deny them to voice criticism?

Stop playing interference. This is just mocking victims of Israel’s wildly excessive bombing and other destruction. This article is talking about newborns who likely suffered and died as no one was able to take care of them. And the dumbass asks “bUT DiD thEY dENoUnCE hAmAS?!!1?” like it’s some sort of gotcha.

Ah yes, Hamas, the deadly… checks notes infants in incubators.

You’re a bit fucked up if you think this is a justifiable consequence of war or something to celebrate.

Not everything is two teams where one team is the winner and one team is the loser. You don’t have to pick a team and automatically everything that team does is good and everything the other team does is bad. Sometimes everything is bad. A bad thing happening to one side, and a bad thing happening to the other side, are both bad things that happened.

There is of course significant nuance, and way more detail in what happens in a real life event. And even when something is “presented” as 2 sides, it’s really thousands of sides that only kind of align somewhat with each other on some things.

Having said all that, the vast majority of people think they both shouldn’t have killed people on any sides. But there are alot of added up underlying causes. And while many people are constantly trying to solve the problem peacefully, there are other people that either can’t wait that long, or don’t find peace to be the best way to go for other reasons.

Real life problems are hard to solve, and while people work to solve one, other ones are likely getting more out of hand, or even the one they are working on is. Luckily there are so many of us that are able to work towards solutions, but it certainly helps when there are at least more people trying to solve problems than the amount that are trying to cause them, or ignoring them.

In summary, no we don’t suck hamas dick. They did a bad thing too. And while they had reason to be upset, there were certainly better ways to go about it. As is the general case in life, being angry is reasonable, but murdering people due to being angry is not.
