I hate gnome and how it looks and how it works. I’m glad that there is something which is that drastically different for people that enjoy it.

What’s a good word for this?

    A single word: “abstain”/“forgo” , although these don’t express personal dislike. “Eschew” describes the shunning of something so might be more suitable. Since you’re using only one word, you might get some follow up questions:

    “I eschew gnome”.

    “Dude wtf does “eschew” mean and why are you such a poser? Oh really? Why’s that then?”
