Yeah but they and their friends can “do it together” and/or they’re seeing tens of millions of people do it overnight. It’s just kind of a “I want to be a part of it” effect in some ways, whether they feel strongly about it or not. I’m sure there’s a more proper term for it.
Yeah, that’s basically it. Except I wouldn’t describe FOMO is “what are they saying about me over there?“ FOMO is more the fear of missing out on a shared experience. but yeah, herd mentality and FOMO, that sounds about right.

It’s a mix between heard mentally (well, all my friends are on it) and FOMO (what are they saying about me over there?)
