It’s pretty much the story of Arsenal Gear in Metal Gear Solid 2 lol
Kojima always had a way of seeing into the not so distant future and pretty much nailing it.

That’s why they increased the price. They know soon you won’t have a choice
Duckduckgo is a wrapper for bing? No wonder it sucks… I want to like it, but the results are usually pretty bad in comparison to Google. Takes me much longer to find what I’m looking for with DDG. :/
I don’t have a link for it, but I read that YouTube is working on a 3 strikes policy for anyone using AdBlock programs… So after the 3rd warning you’re not able to watch anything on YouTube at all…
I’m “technically/mechanically inclined” as they say, but formally, “professionally,” I’m just a worthless factory worker schmuck lol
I have some friends like this… It’s so frustrating. They have no idea how lucky they are to be so interested in such lucrative careers… They’d literally sit at home during the summer and work on things they found interesting. Yes they worked for it, I’ll never say they didn’t, but they didn’t have to FORCE themselves to do it, they were having fun…
Now they’re wealthy and enjoying work while I’m stuck in a literal sweatshop because everything I find interesting are just hobbies that can’t be monetized… But fuck me for not being “valuable.”
I’m really having a hard time thinking about what jobs this would create though. I get the internet thing, as people needed to create and maintain all aspects of it, so jobs are created. If some massive corporation makes the AI and all others use the AI, there’s no real infrastructure. The same IT guys maintain the systems at AI corp. What’s left to be done with it/for it by “common folk?”
I feel like there’s also a “locked out” effect… As in I’m locked out of the housing market entirely now. It’s insanely frustrating as I was just working on a promotion that would leave me comfortably affording the cheaper houses, now I’d be paycheck to paycheck in a dilapidated shithole in the worst parts of the worst towns around…
Not so fun fact: the constitution allows for slavery as long as it’s a punishment for a crime.
Hmmm… Nah, those dots don’t connect at all.
My theory is that they want something else. I use a plate and sometimes she’ll just beg for more anyway even if half of what I gave her is still in the bowl, I’ll give her a tiny bit of something else and she’ll go eat that instead lol
Are you saying that Lemmy does have those algorithms? Because this shit is never boring lol so many instances I never wanted to see or know existed…
Slightly related: how many freaking instances of “yiff” shit do we need!? I couldn’t believe I was STILL seeing it after I blocked like 7 separate instances lol
That shit makes me so angry it’s crazy… Socialism for the corporations, “rugged individualism” for the citizens…
Republicans will scream and cry about socialism when we discuss healthcare, but gladly give corporations all the public money/wealth they could possibly want while also allowing them to charge us for the “product” they create…
“Tell massive heartless corporation to not make every single penny possible!”
Corporation: “We must say with a heavy heart that we’ve lost our communications department. They all died of hysterical laughter after receiving a request to put people over profit.”
I’m someone who doesn’t deal with that friction well. I’m glad to see you pushing for this because I specifically skip past redgif posts because I just don’t like jumping back and forth from site to site
But what about Bitwarden? What you say about the breach is exactly what I’m worried about when having ONE source that has EVERY password. At least now I have different passwords for different sites so only one can be affected, it’s just a pain in the ass to have to go look them up. I save a portion of my passwords with cryptic messages that only I understand.
I can’t think of anything that hasn’t been hacked, I feel like it’s just a matter of time before these password sites are too if they haven’t already. :/
Or more infuriating is when I AM searching Google and the results bring me to some asshat saying “Just google it bruh.”
I never wanted to be stuck in a cubicle in an office so I avoided those types of jobs… Now my dumb uneducated-ass self is stuck in a factory because I never figured out what I DID want to do while my friends spent maybe 4 years in a cubicle and are now all home making tons of money.
I feel like a gigantic moron lol
I suppose you could report it to whatever the equivalent of the FBI is in your country if you aren’t in the US and block the instance. Not sure what else we can do about other people’s instances.
I think it should all exist and then face the consequences of their respective countries laws as people report them, the content will always exist in some form in some place so at least this way we leave things as open as possible while still dealing with illegal things “properly.”
It’s looking more and more depressing on that front too…
Apparently we’re discovering that our type of star system with its long periods of stability and lack of local disruptive bodies is incredibly, incredibly, rare… There are a (literal) astronomical amount of systems out there so there’s no way we’re the only one with life, but it’s really looking like there could only be a “handful” of others out there :/
