Technology@lemmy.world•Both Fedora and Ubuntu will get AI support – soonEnglish
1·2 months agoWell I’m usually using these models to prettify matlab figures, it’s something that I can do but would take me a while, using an llm it takes a minute or two and gives a good enough result. The llms regression to the mean is also exactly what I want. I want a legible figure. I’d say that the electricity that the llm uses is less than the beefy consumed by me burning food to actually write the thing myself.

81·2 months agoUsing an llm mondel that isn’t super advanced is actually quite freeing in my opinion, the generated output is always mediocre at best, but it’s usually good enough for boilerplate and can be decent if you need to unstuck yourself. It also isn’t good enough to lull you into just letting the llm do all the work for you since it makes obvious mistakes.

152·5 months agoAs a libreworlf user, I’d have to advise some caution to regular users. A lot of sites are broken as images won’t load and “fancier” web apps don’t work super well either. Yes it’s an easy fix, but expecting someone to go look in the config files to get an image to load is too much for a lot of people

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•I am so scared of nuclear war, how do I cope with it?
0·6 months agoWell, I had the realisation that the human race is a cancer to the planet, nukes might just be the chemotherapy the planet needs to survive. I was getting really distraught about the environmental crisis and concluded that nuking everything might be a way out. It gave me an odd sense of peace

12·9 months agoDocs aren’t for everybody sometimes stuff is just complex and requires prior understanding. I guess that’s where more people can help FOSS projects, by writing more accessible docs and pre packaging stuff so it can be used by less technical people or someone who’s just starting out.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why do people switch from chrome to Brave browser and not to Firefox?
0·1 year agoI was also on edge for a while exclusively for the vertical tabs, initially it was actually a decent experience if you stripped out bing. Now I’m on brave because it’s fine and it has good compatibility.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why do people switch from chrome to Brave browser and not to Firefox?
0·1 year agoIve browser hopped a bit, Im currently on brave because it has a good vertical tabs integration and works decently well. Having to use another browser because a page won’t load correctly is infuriating to me. After reading the comments here, I’d like to switch. I’m guessing Firefox is my best option huh?
