I’ve been attempting to stop biting my nails for decades at this point.
My stuff:
#StarTrek - Voyager is my favorite, Discovery is a very close second
#Science
#Books - Sci/fi and fantasty mostly, but I’m up for a good recommendation of any genre
#OpenStreetMap - A free and open map created by volunteers
#Dogs

Having the corpse of the Supercollider Superconductor in my backyard growing up (not literally) makes me wonder what could have been if the US wasn’t so shortsighted.
I contribute to OSM a lot and thankfully I haven’t ran into vandalism yet. I’ve always been kind of surprised it isn’t way more common. I guess maybe it is, just not around me.
I’m interested to see what they got from negotiations. I wish my hospital was a union hospital.
People have been talking about space junk for a long time. What are you talking about?
The list of improvements does seem like a nice thing to wait for!
You won’t get any argument from me. It is very frustrating being on the of the ladder of importance in IT and so far removed physically from them. We get tickets sent back to us with no comments no matter how nice our notes are.
I’m guessing in person support at a hospital might be a bit different. If things don’t get fixed we have people down our throats :D
I’m part of the in person desktop support at the hospital I work at. The IT groups above do the same thing even to us. It is so annoying.
I’m here from the thread where he let us know. I was expecting something a little more egregious than the above. That’s absolutely crazy.
Especially questions asked of a sentence steeped in hyperbole.
Hey man I want to thank you for sending me into a time vortex back to the 90s. I forgot about that word.
I’ve only seen the amount of comments and upvotes on posts increase. I don’t know what that says about numbers, but even a small user base with that kind of engagement is awesome.
I’m loving the answers to this two year old question!
My suggestion would be 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. It was a book that I could not put down.
Mastodon is what you make of it. It doesn’t do the work of filling your feed for you. Less convenient, but you get to see what you want to see, not what someone else thinks you might want.
There a LOT more people on Mastodon than there are people using Lemmy.
I think it would be great if we have numbers that are increasing slow and steadily, giving this whole ecosystem time to work out the kinks. While I dream of one day everyone being a part of the fediverse, I’m getting a good count and quality of discussions right now.
Well, not really the same thing but I saw this the other day. I think it is awesome, but that is probably only nostalgia talking. It is a geocities website for the current day!
I think you explained it a bit more eloquently than me. This exactly.
I had a mindset that I had nothing of value to contribute to the conversation. On here, I type out what I would have at Reddit, but I was just wrong. I get plenty of people who engage with me.
I’ve had it suggested but haven’t tried it. Are you talking about color polish, or what people have tried suggesting to me, polish that tastes awful?
