Following the Putin model of power consolidation
You do realize the entire format of reddit is designed to make “echo chambers”. Every single reddit sub is an echo chamber and users have no options. At least here people can do what they want with no one to tell them how to run their community.
The only way to stop it from being a commission echo chamber is to push back or post the opposite stuff. They don’t run many of the communities here like they do on reddit. The good thing about lemmy is getting downvoted doesn’t restrict your usage of the site so you can make unpopular opinions without getting timed out like on reddit.
I think those cards are slightly above mid range. They are very powerful cards.
I wish this wasn’t the case. It feels creepy following people when they get a notification. I just want to see their posts and invisibly lurk.
Mastodon could have perfect UI and still lose to bluesky. Normal people don’t trust foss and mastodon has no advertising budget.
What part do you disagree with? How can pa prevent that. Would you prefer they take Hama’s method and get in a year long war?
The people of Palestine should cut the pa some slack they’re not good but they’re trying to bring stability and statehood to their people. They’re a lot more effective than hamas.
To clarify a bit, the group is a subset of young men and they arent pretending. Its a matter of how different groups express the symptoms of their disorder. Because a man does not express his depression in a typical way does not mean he is pretending not to be depressed. The article even mentions a retrospective study that looked 3000 men who killed themselves and 60% of those men went to therapy but the issue is that this group presents atypical, externalizing depressive symptoms which can lead to them not being recognized by conventional diagnostic instruments". Therapy is not a one size fits all remedy and its common that a tailored approach is required and instruments be updated.
We dont blame or diminish mentally ill people for being mentally ill. Its that simple.
Not just the ones inclined to suicide. Men from all different personality groups and mental states in the study worried about those thing and killed themselves over those things.
Fuck I just typed out such a long and thoughtful response. It was the perfect balance of addressing all the misconceptions in the comments and giving my opinion on the actual issue without at all relating anything women vs man.
My finger slipped and I hit the back button on jeboa and I lost the whole comment. I’m really feeling the traditional masculine urge to express anger and engage in risky behavior.
If you dont mind me asking since I’m curious, how did you find out about lemmy and what made you want to check it out?
Yea but I don’t blame the Dutch for collecting that data since it was the Germans going door to door looking for jews. They did that because they wanted to not because they had the data to do it.
I’d argue there’s a much bigger historical precedent or governments not abusing that information and instead using that info to make informed policy decisions.
If your government does that you have bigger problems than personal privacy and data collection.
Thanks for providing context I probably should have checked to see what she was referring to.
I tell my coworkers I keep work and my personal life seperate. When I’m at work I’m focused on working. I make small talk and I’m polite but I’m busy and people respect that and I’ve never had any issues.-
I have absolutely no idea what I’d do in a workplace like yours. Probably die from socialization overdose.
You could ask your manager what they mean by opening up to coworkers because that sounds extremely abnormal. You could also try interuping the conversation everytime the coworkers talk to you “sorry can’t chat I’m working on something right now” then eventually they will give up. Eat lunch alone and tell them you prefer it that way. But it is good to make work friends to pass the time.
Its because the more you read and comment the less patience you have.
It might be your first time saying something stupid but for someone who has been on the community for a long time they may have seen the comment hundreds or thousands of times and are to tired to give it a soft understanding response. Mix in the fact that some people making the “stupid” comments are intentional and malicious in their intent and you end up getting old-head users who come off bitter and snarky.
The first part is true. Why would you want corporations knowing about you. But the government part doesn’t make sense. Why should your data be kept from the government? The government is the one organization I trust with my data because they hold records on every single citizen and have no monetary incentive to sell or misuse it.
My data in this case being stuff like Name, Address, workplace, family, medical history, employment history, friends.
Stuff I wouldn’t want the government knowing would be my hobbies, my chatlogs, my search history. If they want that they should get a warrant.
I’m OK with the government buying/collecting and using stuff like location data if it’s anonymized. I understand this stuff is needed to see general trends in the population and plan accordingly.
Who the are these people talking in the stalls. I be worried someone would try and kick my ass. I’ve seen people go ape shit if you disturb them during a shit in public.
If they catch him and prove it then yes. Its important for law and order.
