  • Two officials, one from the European Union and one from Canada, with direct knowledge of the discussions said detailed talks were underway to incorporate Canada into the European Union’s new defense initiative. The goal is to boost the E.U.’s defense industry and eventually offer a credible alternative to the United States, which is now dominant.

Specifically, the officials said, Canada would be able to become part of the European military manufacturing roster, marketing its industrial facilities to build European systems like the Saab Gripen jet, a competitor to the American F-35, which is made by Lockheed Martin.

    A good news day!

Glad to see Carney fast-tracking the important stuff. I knew we could count on him.

  • And America wonders why younger generations are disengaged.

    • One in 10 children will experience contact sexual abuse in the U.S. before age 18
    • More than 50% of sex abuse survivors were sexually abused before the age of 12
    • One in 25 children (10-17) will receive an online sexual solicitation
    • Of substantiated reports of child maltreatment in the US, 9% were unique survivors of sexual abuse
    • The average age for a minor to enter the sex trade is 12 – 14

    • Over one-quarter of male victims of completed rape experienced their first rape at or before the age of 10

  • In the read out from the PCC meeting on Friday, it says the participating agencies “recognize the need for the United States to take strong action to counter this devastating situation, but these bureaus share significant policy concerns with the Executive Order as drafted.”

Those concerns include the fact that the EO “cites a statute that does not entail an authority to ‘designate’ substances as WMD,” concerns about “negative effects on entities that legitimately handle, ship, and deliver opioids for pharmaceutical purposes,” and acknowledges that “fentanyl can be treated as a chemical weapon when it is developed or used as a weapon…which risks muddying clearly defined roles and responsibilities between the counternarcotics, counterproliferation, and arms control communities.”

Trump has blown by just blurring the lines since he was sworn in. He’s wiping them out completely.

  • The Conservative national campaign director told media outlets Tuesday their journalists won’t be allowed to travel with leader Pierre Poilievre on his campaign plane and bus during the upcoming election, ending a decades-old tradition of reporters embedding with a prospective candidate to lead the country.

There is no recent precedent for a major federal party barring reporters, producers, camera operators and broadcast technicians from travelling with a leader during a national election campaign.

Yeah, being a secretive asswipe is how you get Canadians to trust you. 🙄

  • … security threats don’t feel close until your windows start to shake.

    So very true.

Was talking to my much-younger brother the other day and his response to me speaking about America’s possible incursion was to shrug his shoulders. My bro is highly-educated and doesn’t support MAGA at all, but his lackadaisical response kind of blew me away.

It is true Amaerica may not try to invade us, but it is also equally true they may … and I’d rather be prepared for the worst than be frozen in place by its arrival.
