Pfft, didn’t even try to enhance the footage. They’re obviously not cut out for forensics work.
I do watch true crime and I know what you mean, and I personally do struggle with whether it’s even ethical to watch it. No matter how respectfully they approach it and no matter how good their intentions may or may not be, even if the wanted to raise awareness for unsolved cold cases just in case people watching may have information, it still doesn’t change the reality that they are making a spectacle out of and directly profiting from someone else’s tragedy without their consent or knowledge.
Then you have truly disgusting people in the true crime space like this: https://nypost.com/2023/07/12/youtuber-slammed-for-charging-to-see-autopsy-photos-of-boy-11/
And then you have CBC, Canada’s national, State owned broadcasting service. They also have multiple true crime shows/podcasts, where they have reporters employed by the Canadian government interviewing police and investigators who are also employed by the Canadian government. There’s nothing wrong with that on its own, BUT, it gets infuriating sometimes because there have been cases where the reporters get really suspicious that a certain person did it and has dug up a ton of seemingly new evidence that supports it, and the police wouldn’t even comment on it, sound super apathetic when being told all this, and seem to have absolutely no intention to investigate further after the reporters brought their findings to them and gave them a bunch of (seemingly) new leads. Like if another government agency has already done half the work for you why would you not follow up? Is the goal of the government only to talk about horrific monsters that take the lives of their citizens and not to actually punish them and remove them from society? I suppose it’s possible that the police already investigated that avenue and ruled it out and are just not telling the reporters (and by extension the public), but if that’s the case why not just come out and say that so not only the suspected person’s name is cleared and also let the public know that they are indeed on top of the investigation?
I like it because I don’t have any of the company’s shit on my own machine. I absolutely don’t trust them not to spy on my personal computer use if they had access to it. With remote desktop I close it at the end of the work say and it has no more access to my computer than I have access to their critical systems.
In my case, their shit that we’re required to use don’t even support Linux so if it wasn’t for virtualized environment I’d had to install Windows on my own machine.
Counterpoint: Virtualized environment/remote desktop. The real computer is in a data center hundreds of kilometers away with world class fire suppression systems.
Counter counterpoint: If you’re virtualized you might be working from home, in which case, that’s rough, hope they manage to restore your house.
Remember: There is no such thing as an “evil” AI, there is such a thing as evil humans programming and manipulating the weights, conditions, and training data that the AI operates on and learns from.

What did you expect from a company whose logo is a turd seen from above!
They’ve already been shamelessly doing the exact same thing with outlet malls for ages: https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/outlet-stores-quality-1.3392279 / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8cyvpJYZlk
So we really shouldn’t be surprised, unfortunately.
Your unchanged words:
Until you find out it [the EU] lets Muslim immigrants (80% of whom prefer sharia law over eu law) take over entire towns & countries.
Provide examples then. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence and the burden of providing such evidence is on the claimant and no one else.
And surely if you have a numeric figure like 80% for the proportion of Muslim immigrants in the EU who supposedly prefer sharia law, you can cite the source in which the statistic came from, and the source will list their data collection and analysis methodology which will also surely be logically and mathematically sound, right? Riiiiight?
Why next year?
Yep, and the manufacturer can’t even be bothered to spend that much more money to include a high quality stand with a thousand dollar TV with already high profit margins. Somehow, having to throw the default OEM parts in a landfill because they’re intentionally low quality and barely usable and being forced to buy a passable replacement separately is just a thing that they expect us to do now. Capitalism innovates y’all!
Yep, that’s what I figured happened when they went from proper swivel pedestals to those stupid wedges. Hell even computer monitors are joining in on the action, the number of brand new, fairly high end and expensive monitors whose stock base is just bolted to the back and have zero adjustments is ridiculous.
You can break a TV by knocking it off a table, you can’t break a cat that way. Therefore cats are better designed than TVs.
Makes me feel better that bats are as uncoordinated as me.
Also, it’s infinitely frustrating and heartbreaking for the more senior climate scientists that went from saying “look, if we act now and put our heads together to clean up our act, we can still stop this in its tracks and save the world” early in their career to decades later where basically all that’s left for them to do is try to predict exactly how bad it will get, what regions will be decimated the most and how many billions of people will die from this, while begging everyone to at least mitigate it so humanity as a species might still have a chance, and everyone still don’t give a shit.
They’re still saying the end is nigh. I’ve legit heard Christians argue that we shouldn’t care about climate change because the rapture is coming any day now.
Also, science was warning us about this in the 80s and 90s too. Society didn’t care then like it doesn’t care now (though it now pretends to).
Do it! Commence the sacrifice so that the great penguin in the sky may grant you its blessing!
It’s even more efficient to produce hot water at the point of use with a water heating fixture than a centralized water heater. There is no energy loss in storage or a lengthy journey through pipes (which are also usually uninsulated), and you can also directly heat water to the temperature you want instead of wasting energy mixing hot and cold water to cool it back down. You also get truly instant hot water with them. They’re fairly common in Europe and Asia which have 240v electricity (also because a lot of those homes predate mass availability and adoption of domestic hot water in the region so they had to retrofit). Sadly the North American electrical system is too dinky to handle that.
Honestly we deserve it. Orcas are considered sapient and on par with human intelligence by many experts, and one could argue we’re colonizing them.
