Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your idea of a 'perfect life'?English
0·7 months agoFor me, a perfect life would be a job, any job, that keeps me afloat, a house to live in, even if its just a small apartment, and a few good friends.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Should I try to reconnect with a friend who's chosen to self isolate?English
0·8 months agoI can’t really give the best advice. A while ago I went through some things and decided to avoid all my friends. I remember, decpite my decision, I really would’ve loved if one of my close friends reached out. Idk about your friend though, everyone is different. If I were you I would definitely reach out. Make them understand that you really care about them.

42·8 months agoI am completely against addictions, including those like algorithmic social media. I am also against people who dont understand tech blaming it instead of blaming the real problem. If we just took a second to understand it we would understand how to use it responsibly.

78·8 months agoFucking conservatives in my opinion. Its not a bad way of spending time, its different. It has a different set of advantages and disadvantages. If you’re too stupid to understand it, just stay away from it. But don’t ruin it for the open minded people who are open to new ideas.

Its not that easy. I have trust issues

4·9 months agoLike other people have suggested, maybe get a second phone (one of those really cheap ones with play Services) and use that for that stuff, and keep your main personal phone google-free.

Technology@lemmy.world•Google's shocking developer decree struggles to justify the urgent threat to F-DroidEnglish
4·9 months agoYes, banking apps, streaming apps, even some shopping apps. This has been a problem for a long time. Sometimes its for “security” reasons and sometimes its simply because the app uses Play Service APIs. Another issue on de-googled systems is push notifications, though that is often fixed through alternates like Unified Push

Technology@lemmy.world•Google's shocking developer decree struggles to justify the urgent threat to F-DroidEnglish
8·9 months agoGoogle’s developer verification will only run on mainstream Android with play services. It’s not supposed won’t be running in standard AOSP so the easiest solution would be to switch to a custom ROM like GrapheneOS.

I dont think the police would care that much if I called them about an improperly parked car. I’d call them anyways and use my best Sheldon Cooper impression and make a huge deal out of it.
