Essentially it makes it illegal to be transgender and have a job in government or government adjacent.

Here is an excert: It is the policy of the state that a person’s sex is an immutable biological trait and that it is false to ascribe to a person a pronoun that does not correspond to such person’s sex. This section does not apply to individuals born with a genetically or biochemically verifiable disorder of sex development, including, but not limited to, XX disorder of sex development; XY disorder of sex development; sex chromosome disorder of sex development; XX or XY sex reversal; and ovotesticular disorder.

An employee or a contractor may not be required, as a condition of employment, to refer to another person using that person’s preferred personal title or pronouns if such personal title or pronouns do not correspond to that person’s sex.
An employee or a contractor may not provide to an employer his or her preferred personal title or pronouns if such preferred personal title or pronouns do not correspond to his or her sex.
An employee or a contractor may not be asked by an employer to provide his or her preferred personal title or pronouns or be penalized or subjected to adverse personnel action for not providing his or her preferred personal title or pronouns.

It continues on about not being able to fire people for thinking being gay is a sin and so on, but I don’t want this to be a novel.

I think the feature is cool and I’m looking forward to it personally.

Maybe they should have made it opt in, but social features like this on other platforms like discord and stream aren’t, so … eh.

We went from a resource economy to a manufacturing economy to a service economy… And now many services are being automated. So what’s next?

I’m in favor of the automation but recognize it’s going to cause pain in the near future.

I’ve seen people tout a ‘creative based economy’, but to be honest LLMs and GANs seen poised to grab that sector before anyone in service can transition to it.

You’d hope all of this would mean an easier life, but so long as capitalism is the name of the game there is zero incentive to spread the benefits among all.

They can keep their contracted farmers in debt to them indefinitely and essentially have a class of indentured servants.

As far as white phosphorus, it depends on how it’s deployed. If it’s deployed for masking, tracing or identifying then it’s legal.

If it’s being directly used as an incendiary then that’s illegal.

As far as international law goes no this is not a war crime.

If your military takes refuge or uses a civilian center for military operation then that location becomes a valid military target regardless of the risk to civilian lives.

Basically Hamas is commiting the crime by purposefully setting up in these areas. Once they do that then civilian death is acceptable collateral damage, legally speaking.

No, what Israel is doing makes sense from a strictly selfish point of view.

The question of ‘Why doesn’t Israel integrate the Palestinians?’ is a good one. The answer is numbers.

Israel was founded as a Jewish ethnostate. Those who have immigrated there have done so because they wanted to live in a Jewish ethnostate. So one of the core values of the country is that it is primarily a place for Jews.

If Israel absorbed the populations of Gaza and the West Bank into Israel, the Jewish population would become a minority in Israel if not immediately then within a generation.

I don’t agree with the idea of ethnostates in general and I do believe establishing Israel as one was a mistake.

… But if you imagine the viewpoint of someone who does want a Jewish ethnostate like so many in Israel you can see why this solution is a non starter.

The legislature can and will find ways to neuter the amendment.

They did it here in Florida when we voted to restore the rights of felons after their punishment was complete.

The legislature ruled that the felons had to pay back all outstanding fees before they could get their rights back. Felons get changed by the jail for their stay, so most leave with 100s of thousands in debt on the books.

Then the state purposely makes it impossible for felons to even find out how much they owe, meaning even if they were to somehow get the money paying is very difficult.

It has effectively prevented any felons from getting their voting rights back. I think the actual number who have is less than 10 and we passed that amendment in 2020.

I’ll tell you, I have my setup to the point where I go to one website, subscribe to a show, and episodes of that show appear to watch on my TV same day they are released.

I also set myself up to get email alerts telling me what new episodes I have to watch when they are done being downloaded.

… Setting all that up took me awhile and will take tech skills. But now that it’s set up, it’s zero touch aside from adding new shows.

Plus, I never have to worry about trying to find where to stream at it and even if my Internet goes out I can still watch my shows
