Ya, the litter boxes in the video don’t look “cheap.” This is cheap, and guaranteed not to decapitate your cats!

Well shit, time to get out of shape then. 😉

I also, despite being in good shape, sweat a ton. I honestly hate it, but there are much worse things to live with.
Anyways, I had the same pit stain problem as you. I found that it was my antiperspirant causing the problem. I switched away from an antiperspirant (which honestly wasn’t really helping me sweat any less anyway) to a straight deodorant (Old Spice) and the problem went away.

ITT: The most politically charged discussion of compression software I’ve ever read…

I’ve heard that. I’d be happy to switch to something different, but this is the only one I know of that still works. Recommendations welcome.

Odd, still working for me with or without a VPN. Here is another link through a different domain, but it’s from the same service so I don’t know if it’ll work any better for you.

Taking Roko’s basilisk to a whole new level!
Roko’s basilisk, is a thought experiment which states that there could be an artificial superintelligence in the future that, while otherwise benevolent, would punish anyone who knew of its potential existence but did not directly contribute to its advancement or development, in order to encourage that advancement.

I enjoyed both when they were still airing, but I can completely understand why people watching them today for the first time wouldn’t. It’s one of those, “you had to be there” kinda things. Just like I probably wouldn’t enjoy watching The Beverly Hillbillies or I Love Lucy if I tried watching them today.

I read it 3 times, and I’m still not sure if I understand what they were trying to say.

What is PayPal mafia
The founders and original employees of PayPal. Peter Thiel and Elon Musk are the most notable “members.”

One of the things I miss the most about the 1900s is that people didn’t expect you to be reachable 24/7. Even though cellphones had been around since the 80s very few people had one. That meant that most people could only be reached through the family landline. If you didn’t answer people would just assume you were out of the house, thus unreachable. That all started to change in the 2000s when cellphones became common place. Now days I feel like everyone expects me to pick up when they call, and if I don’t they expect a better excuse than “I don’t feel like talking right now.” As a very introverted person who often needs a lot of alone time, it sucks, and sometimes I really wish I could go back to a world without cellphones.

To be fair, of the three leading causes drug poisoning deaths saw the largest increase.
In 2023, 4,455 children and adolescents were killed by guns—a 3.9% increase since 2020. While motor vehicle crash deaths rose 8.6% over the same period, drug poisoning deaths, including overdoses, were the third leading cause of death, up 12.7% since 2020.

I just had an idea for a totally fictitious short story about a president who keeps pressing hard for new ballroom, but it’s actually just a ruse for a new state-of-the-art top secret bunker that is being built underneath it. Anyways, this absolutely fictional president needs this ballroom/bunker because they’re not planning on leaving office after their second term, and their plan is to wait out the impending civil war from there. This could be a fun story to write, but I’m a little worried that it’s too far-fetched.

Also they really think that when society breaks down the people with guns they hired are going to follow the billionaire’s orders when they could just be the ones in charge?
I think many are banking on these new AI robots and drones improving enough to be their protectors/slaves.

Whoosh!

Interesting. Do you know why people collect them? Is it like a rabbits foot? Are there lucky raccoon penises out there?

Normal people are boring and sad now?

Firefly is better imo, but it does have the “advantage” of only having had one very good season. Would Firefly have kept the same quality or better over 6 seasons? Who knows. We’ve all seen shows with excellent first seasons that later drop in quality (Altered Carbon for example). Regardless, The Expanse is a great sci-fi show that is at least worth trying out if you liked Firefly.
