Haha, same here, but you know who gets my money now after their cycles of enshittification?
Guys from Alldebrid.

Brother for life.
You bet it. I got one toner refill for like $6 for Brother laser printer which is happily chugging along with factory installed drum after 2600 pages printed during over 6 year period. No DRM, no driver drama, and you know what happens to jet printers with such sporadic usage.
The reason is SIMD instructions / vectorized assembly instructions with consideration for delay slots, instruction latency, memory access times etc., for which GCC and Clang optimizers are both terrible and cannot automatically transform C code to them in any but simple cases.
This is also a reason why specialized DSP processors with SIMD capabilities have dedicated proprietary compilers for them.
We don’t have this kind of trucks in the Europe AT ALL and people still go fishing, do home repairs, carry heavy or large loads. This is all American lifestyle.
Coordinated action to undermine UAW workers confidence in their negotiations? I’ve seen too many such things for it to be a coincidence.
Power draw for cellular tower equipment has become a major concern and product differentiator for mobile operators. I work in telco sector.
AFAIK Apple develops their modem in Germany. The initial effort to get into this market is tremendous. After that it’s incremental improvements, but you must start somewhere.
Hah look at the downvotes, you can’t have civilized discussion these days.
Your last paragraph and my last sentence is the whole culprit for me. The money I have to pay here for good heat pump with COP 2 at -30 and the associated electric bills have currently no chance here to ever be cheaper than burning gas either nor more friendly for the climate where my government burns coal to produce electricity.
And no, I cannot install enough solar to power this heat pump in the winter or offset the cost of electricity during summer (inverters already turn off in the summer, no electricity is produced as too many neighbors have solar and voltage rises above shutdown threshold in the grid)
The COP coefficient falls down drastically to 1 as soon as temperature drops below -5C and they basically start working as an electric heater. It wouldn’t be a problem if I wasn’t living in a country with the most expensive electricity in Europe which is produced mainly from coal…
(What’s with the downvotes?)
Small scale reactors that require almost no maintenance and produce enough power for a single city are the hot topic right now due to what you just mentioned. As a side product, they provide hot water for the city.
It also doesn’t help that people got brainwashed that solar energy and heat pumps will solve all our problems. I don’t have enough space to install so many solar panels to provide power to heat pump during the Eastern European winter and even if I did, ROI will be longer than their expected lifetime. And we still use lead during production, and no one wants to recycle them. These geniuses here import broken solar panels and dump them into the ground and cover them, call that recycling. FFS, nuclear waste disposal is less scary than this uncontrolled shit.
It couldn’t be more based to name bomb-dropping drones a Precision Payload Delivery System.
You are right, solar panels in which lead is used in manufacturing are definitively easiest and cheapest to recycle.
I can’t wait to see how this solar will power their heat pumps in cold dark cloudy European winter :)
Have you even read the links that you use to build an argument?! The Wikipedia page for The Convention itself says that the kind of people on the border with Belarus ARE NOT refugees, they do not match the definition of refugee as defined by The Convention and this problem is highlighted in the article!
