The one that always gets me is the light/dark image that has the same grey in two places, and on one side it looks like darkness and on the other like light.

It was a fucking struggle to leave, let me tell you.
I suddenly suffered from a crippling disease (made worse because I was 10 and generally healthy before that, so it was mind boggling at the time), and no one in the church gave a hoot. You’d think a community of people who believed in a loving god would care that such a god would randomly punish a kid… so when everyone just told me to accept it I understandably grew pissed. That then blossomed into asking questions about others with diseases, famine, war, death, bla bla bla, and every answer was just stupid.
Buuut, I was in a super religious family, and went to a religious school, and was a part of a very community focused church, so it took until I left at the age of majority to really leave religion behind. I argued with every single dumb christian I could find for my teenage years, because I wanted to find someone who actually had a good argument. Humorously enough, the best argument ever made to me was by someone who didn’t even care about christianity except that he ‘was’ one by dint of other people being christians: maybe it was necessary for god to send people to hell and have a shitty life… except obviously that’s a shitty god that I wouldn’t care to worship, so finally in college I said good-fucking-bye to the entire mindset.
As for what happened, while I was still under the parents’ control and the school’s control, I was labeled as a troublemaker and generally ostracized. My mother would wail (reasonably) about the situation, but stopped making me go to church as I entered high school. The extended family that still cared about religion just chalked it up to attention seeking and ignored it, which was fine by both parties.

Hopefully something terribly comedic, like: could god make his vagina so small that he couldn’t make a penis small enough to enter it?

at what point are we no longer responsible for the sins of our fathers?
When everyone is living well.

Oh hell.
(loling because of who you’re replying to, btw)

Mortar fire might work better.

Please don’t embarrass us both by pretending there was any logic to that comment.

The bonespur bitch, we call 'im round these parts. We jes put 'im in some of dem hai 'eels and bent 'im over a barrel to get all that nasty pressure off 'is 'eels. 'e came pre-lubed, too, which were a real nice touch from the factory, I tell ya what.

HA! Maybe firefighters, but EMS gets to sit around the firehouse once in a bloody blue moon. The 24 hour shifts suck, because the chances of you actually getting to sleep during the night hours are incredibly low.
Sure, there are going to be differences based on where you are working, but generally EMS is nearly call-to-call.
Lovely how xkcd seems to have the answers to life and its mysteries.

We as a species, is losing to whatever the “internet” is. We need real regulation.
And none of that regulation will have anything to do with age, if you want real effectiveness. A teenager seeing a dick and a dick, a vagina and a vagina, or a dick and a vagina, being mashed together isn’t concerning in the big picture. The stuff that is worrying about the internet affects adults just as much as children, like social media.

Rice is grown in water because it makes it easier to farm. It’s not that it needs the water, it’s that it doesn’t mind the water while most of the weeds very much mind the water.
Your view of whether it is disinformation depends on whether you believe church leaders and politicians had sincere beliefs about it, so, obviously, that’s going to be pretty personal to you. I have met several federal level politicians and ‘influential’ church leaders and gotten to know them well enough that I can say they push lies with intent, so I’d be confident in stating that the various flavors of satanic panic weren’t entirely organic and honest.
The right wing of america and the various christian cultural movements/monoliths have been allies since roughly the reagan campaign. The power of that alliance is a large part of the republican’s base/power. The politicians on the right have a great deal of push on them to parrot christian talking points, like the satanic panic of various flavors that was pushed about music and activities like D&D.
So while the d&d being evil may not have started as right wing propaganda, it quickly became so due to the way the cultural onus of christianity pushed politicians into acting. You can see the same thing with ‘christian’ values around political fighting with abortion, teenage pregnancy / sex education, israel (though that one is obviously much more complicated than just ‘church leaders fetishes -> politicians’ stances), ‘morality’ based laws around prostitution and gambling, etc.
I saw a comic recently where the evil cultist tried to sacrifice his virgin friend to gain power/favor from a demon. Only, whoops! The friend had lied about being a virgin, and the cultist was one. Cultist learned just what the hard way is on that one.

You’d be surprised about the passing of medical school… also at what an interview for someone applying for a job after getting a degree where they’d be taking health science law. Add in that many jobs need only a smidgen of the knowledge you learned at school, and the rest is trained, they’ll pass the 3 month probation. It sucks, but it’ll happen.
I get the illusion with the blue radiograph halfway down, but I’ve never been able to easily switch the dancer.
