While I agree that there’s is always some sort of fear mongering with new tech as you said, I don’t think they compare to what we’re talking about. D&D is a tabletop game based on a magical world of various races, monsters, demons, etc. It’s also obviously just a game.

Video games, especially violent ones that are vilified by the media, are still obviously just games played on a screen. VR is getting closer to “real life”, but is still played on a headset, so there is still a divide between in-game and real life.

With sex bots, they are physical things that are made to look and act like real people. That separation between imagination and real-world isn’t there anymore. For all intents and purposes, once the bot is on and functional it is as close to a real person as technology can create. Now, this tech is not yet a reality. But I foresee that future in the next few years.

The biggest danger with allowing people to do whatever they want to a sex bot is that it has the possibility to encourage dangerous behavior in some people to the point where they are comfortable doing it to a real person. Especially as these bots get more and more life-like, from appearances to LLM conversations. Rape fantasies, abuse, etc, are all on the table when no one is around. Now of course, this is an extreme hypothetical, but there are people out there who are not-right in the head and will do this sort of stuff.

The other part of it is, what’s to stop a business selling life-like sex bots of people who never agreed to that, like big celebrities and social media stars? Sex sells and it’ll be a reality way before regulations are put in to stop it from happening. And even when a government prohibits it, there’s always the black market.

It’s not even a matter of IF this will happen. It’s a matter of when, and how we will deal with it.

And while I say all this, I DO believe people should have the right to do whatever they want to their property, in the safety and privacy of their own home. I’m not saying people should not be allowed to buy themselves really fancy sex dolls. For some, it can really be the only way to help with one of the most instinctual needs a human has. Especially in the disabled/disfigured communities, having a way to release that sexual frustration improves their mental well-being.

But as technology continues to evolve, we have to take into account so the different forms it takes, both the beneficial and the ugly.

I am firmly of the opinion that there is SOMETHING Israel has over the US that is probably super classified and super damning. Why else would BOTH parties, in one of, if not THE most influencial voting season in our country, agree on supporting Israel?

For how much the Republicans stand with Israel (and how many actually don’t care about genocide since pretty much every Neo-Nazi is Republican), it should be the BIGGEST soft-ball issue to run on for Dems to oppose, being the party of “the rights of the people”. But they have the presidency and continue supplying weapons to them for their war engine. No matter how many words are said, actions speak louder.

The joke refers to the Republican’s hate for progressives and their ideals (equality for all, women’s rights, basic human decency, etc), which they refer to with the umbrella term “woke”.

So the joke is, they hate “woke” people, both in the political and literal sense of someone waking from a coma.

Voting is great and all, but we literally have the choice between the guy helping fund these atrocities, and the guy trying to destroy democracy.

Just vote third party? That’s just a throw away vote for one party. THIS is the problem with a two-party system.

Unfortunately, there are too many major hurdles to go over (two party system, electoral college, gerrymandering, lobbying, just to name a few) before we even have a chance at something resembling justice, here or abroad.

I think “Adam’s Driver” would make it a slightly better punchline.

We also survived thousands of years without any of the creature comforts our society has taken for granted. Unfortunately, all the scientific advances we’ve achieved for the betterment of mankind involved these forever chemicals in one way or another.

I’m not saying they’re not terrible, but at least some of the voices against these restrictions aren’t in bad faith. It just speaks to the importance of finding alternatives, and we have to accept the fact that some things might not be replaceable with biodegradable solutions.

Cheaper option: become really good friends with a farmer with lots of land and pitch him the idea to host a haunted hay ride. Charge $5-10/head and that should cover expenses and maybe even turn a little profit if you’ve got enough people in your neck of the haunted woods

Actually, reading through some of the other comments, someone mentioned an OpenBoard fork with swipe functionality and it’s actually working very well! Typing is responsive, prediction gets most of my words on the first go, and the backspace deletes the word instead of single letters (which is a preference I like).

Although Swype has been dead for quite a while now, that keyboard has been the best for swipe texting I’ve ever found. I tried Gboard, sucks. OpenBoard doesn’t have swipe functionality (that I’ve found), and am using AnySoft right now, with minimal success. I have to keep backspacing to retype words, or manually type them, sometimes my swipes don’t register into words, its just really annoying.

I wish someone would rebuild Swype so i could go back to it.
