Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you do simply for the love of it and not for validation?
0·8 hours agoProgramming games.
My latest one is probably the last one though, the plan is to just continue developing it and expanding it. It’s a Slow-RPG, so there will always be new things to invent and add.

5·12 hours agoThere were loads of ram companies in the eighties, so many that when meager times came, half went bankrupt.
RAM making is a brutal market. It’s very different to chip making, it’s “just” billions of capacitors.

Just buy up used stuff, computers nowadays are very resilient.
I have a 6 gen intel Linux, works like a charm., and a 8 gen for “gaming n stuff” (windoze), I even got my hands on a recent laptop for 100€…
No need to buy that latest stuff, IMO.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is the gripe against AI the same as CGI when first being used?
0·1 day agoI don’t think it’s intended to replace the workplace (whatever the AI bros say), more like the self checkout, edges handled by humans so bigger efficiency (per worker).
What riles me up isn’t that but that we generate so much wealth but still can’t share even enough so that people can be safe and fed.

What do you mean? For me, a definition is declared once, in its entirety, and that’s it.
Declaring it in several places makes no sense of course (for me at least) just include the header and voilà!
You can’t escape it, it will always get you.

Remember direct mode/protected mode? Mode 13? That 64k color buffer, aah memories :-)

Why?
