If upvotes are “i like/i agree”, why shouldn’t a downvote be " i don’t like/i disagree"? Why are people making something else out of it?
And this is exactly why downvoters shouldn’t be blocked, even if it’s only for a while: now they can elaborate why they downvote.
Yes, that’s true. But what’s the point of asking something to a community if you’re not willing to handle criticism?
In this case, yes. Because next time i downvote something, i’m not allowed to explain why. How respectful i may be, you take away my freedom to share my opinion. On a open platform, of all… This is a place of discussions, criticism often is a part of that. Can’t handle that? This place might not be for you.
Downvoters can disagree on something, hence the downvote. I don’t mind seeing your post, because it opens a new discussion for a possible new feature. Now we can talk about whenever it is a good thing or not. And i simply think it is not.
Hello, i downvoted this because i strongly disagree, but that doesn’t mean i’m not open to discuss this (are discussions not why platforms like this exist in the first place?). A downvote doesn’t mean i don’t care, like you suggest.
People should be allowed to agree AND disagree, and still be allowed to explain why they downvote.

4·1 month agoCan’t find anything about the battery being removeable or not. Would like to know that. If it does have that, i might try this one out! Sounds very interesting.
I’m getting Goat Simulator vibes from this. Nice shot!
I’ve noticed your posts a couple of times now. Just pay for your fucking games, especially from the companies that still have a heart for gaming. You get a game that most likely will work on Linux, they get paid for their work.
Agreed, but the poll on the website shows more people vote for ‘more blurr’ too (tho 500+ votes don’t say all). I really don’t like were this is going…
Perhaps the ‘add new apps to the homescreen’ option is a little buggy? Like maybe the launcher thinks an updated app is a new app? Try turning that off.
I had the issue appear when sliding apps into folders straight out of the appdrawer. If i add it to the homescreen first and then drag it into a folder, the issue is gone.
Hope any of this helps.

Android@lemmy.world•Is there a way to play every sound over the phone speaker(top)?English
7·5 months agoI’m not sure Android 8.1, or your Blackberry, has this feature, but i did this once by setting audio to ‘mono’ and let everything go through the left speaker (which is the top one, in my case at least). Try searching for ‘mono’ in your settings and see if it’s there.
Edit/note: i think this also applies to external audio devices, you might want to change it again when you use headphones etc.

Android@lemmy.world•OnePlus 15 review: The end of range anxietyEnglish
21·6 months ago“Parts of the phone reached a scorching 130° Fahrenheit, which is hot enough to burn your skin after about 30 seconds. During a few stress tests, the phone completely closed all apps and disabled functions like the LED flash to manage heat”.
I know this is during benchmarks and the average consumer would not get anywhere near this, but still… 130°F (54,44°C)?!? I think 113°F (45°C) is already a little too warm to be comfortable…
For me using a VPN sometimes causes these kind of things. Otherwise, no idea

Photography@lemmy.ml•Found this little one walking around the forest
7·8 months agoHe froze when i approached. After a minute or so, he noticed that i would not come closer and was comfortable enough to look around curiously but it was still too afraid to move. That’s when i thought it was the perfect moment to take some shots. Would’ve loved to stay a little longer for some different shots, but i didn’t want to scare the little guy more than this.
I have a Nikon Z30 btw.

Android@lemmy.world•Supreme Court deals Google a blow, forces major Play Store overhaulEnglish
6·8 months agoGoogle has to allow other app stores in Google Play Store in 2026, if Google likes it or not is not relevant.
And yes, the question remains if you can download from F-droid after installing through PlayStore, i agree with you there (because of the verification thing). It depents on what the court thinks ‘sideloading’ is, since we already know what Google think it means…

Android@lemmy.world•Supreme Court deals Google a blow, forces major Play Store overhaulEnglish
211·8 months agoWell, if i can download a F-droid app via Playstore… then i’m basically not “sideloading” anything. This could be interesting!
But the whole (paid) ‘verification’ thing still is troubling tho. And we know Google; they are good at breaking things one way or another.

Android@lemmy.world•If I wanted to donate a few dollars a month to the future development of a phone OS that will allow users to continue "sideloading". What is your recommendation, and why?English
10·8 months agoApp and OS developers need to go hand in hand here, i believe. So, also support app(store) developers, because without them, any good deGoogled OS / Linux will still be worthless.
I think the best way to invest for the long run is to start using any OS without any Google API on it (so, completely Google free, not even use spoofservices such as MicroG) and use alternatives for the stuff you use now. Then, when you find software you like, simply start donating / supporting them.

TL;DR
Also; fuck Google.
