13·3 days agoThat’s what all the industrial biowaste incinerators they’ve been buying are for.
Careful, lemmings hate it when you point out that voters and non voters are responsible for the government we have, or that it’s largely a reflection of the culture and society we propagate.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do you think that Edward Snowden is a hero?
0·4 days agoAs long as context is clearly explained and sources named I don’t disagree. But they’ve been less than reliable about that in the past. If you repeat propaganda (even if it’s more or less true) without explaining that it’s propaganda by providing relevant context then you are a propagandist.

0·4 days agoIsn’t that the whole point of the AI push? To get us fully into that level of surveillance state, and to have it automated? Flock is doing its part but really they don’t need cameras to track people anymore.

World News@lemmy.world•Americans are leaving the U.S. in record numbers and spending hundreds to learn how to do itEnglish
1·16 days agoBeen that way since before the founding. We have a half dozen examples of groups that were kicked out of their home countries for being too hateful setting up shop here. It’s a fundamental part of the culture. Brainwashing implies the (forcible) changing of one’s thoughts and opinions. That’s largely not applicable here since it’s all baked in from the get go.

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Last year, Canadian politicians banned bike lanes and speed cameras in Toronto. Now it's blowing up in their face. You reap what you sow.English
22·19 days agoWhen speed cameras were first introduced they led to an uptick in accidents because people would brake suddenly when they saw the camera and get rear ended. This still happens but thought out implementation seems to result in a net reduction in collisions but more data is needed. All this is to say the primary purpose of speed cameras is still revenue generation.

12·19 days agoDo you have evidence that speed cameras with fines are clearly proven to “keep people from getting killed” because I’m pretty sure their primary purpose is revenue generation.
Edit: looking into it, it seems the majority of the available data generally indicates a reduction in collisions and fatalities but apparently the methodology across the various studies has been pretty inconsistent so there’s no hard numbers. But apparently they range from no reduction at all to 70 percent from my glancing at the data, apparently how many cameras how far apart and how far from the high traffic incident area are the main determining factors in reducing accidents. I may have overlooked it but I didn’t actually see anywhere that shows the speed reduction after camera introduction though.

41·19 days agoSo depending on how fast the flow of traffic is going, the person going the speed limit is the one creating the dangerous situation. If everyone else is driving sixty in a thirty and you’re driving thirty, you’re the one that’s going to cause a wreck. In many jurisdictions keeping with the flow of traffic actually supersedes posted speed limits.

5·20 days agoWe lost containment because doge cut funding while beef snuggling in Mexico has ramped up, so it’s not just Trump’s fault. But he saw a brush fire and poured gas on it. Beef is going to a luxury for wealthy Americans. Just like pets are becoming. Somebody noticed that the bottom half of the country functionally does not participate in “the economy” so their solution is to eliminate them. Letting the screw fly run loose helps that goal. See also the repeal of environmental protections and regulations.

Disingenuous bullshit for 300 Alex.
