So I have had other problems with Proton, but they are handling this a hell of a lot better than GOG did.

This is the mindset that keeps the world going!
The hacker mindset exists beyond information technology.

17·25 days agoIf you are browsing Piefed you are probably using about 10-20% of your computer’s resources (if it is a computer capable of running a 4B model).
When you question the model and it pegs your system out, that is between 5 and 10 TIMES more resource utilization and power waste just to have a question answered that you could have taken the time to research, improve your own critical thinking skills, and learned something without changing your utilization at all.
Not counting the training debt.

“He might be a terrible person, but he’s fighting the fight for {Privacy, against big tech, etc.}”
This post makes many good points but this also reeks of the “Free Speech” argument.
Redacting the political ideology does nothing to protect the instance … it only hides the cause of the ban.
What does the person who had this run against them feel afraid to express?
To clarify: LLMs have no place at all in moderation. They are poorly adjusted linguistic slot machines that do not do a good enough, reliable enough, or repeatable job for this tasks. Especially given the concern about untrained and unsupervised human moderators.

12·2 months agoHey I do a lot with this!
I made stumbler for human made websites that have many indie/small web sites at https://neostumble.neocities.org/
And a banner ad style thing like the old ads from back in the day at https://j4yc33.neocities.org/stuff/BannerAds
Enjoy the small web friend!
So it isn’t exactly the same as what I was planning, but there used to be a BannerLink maintained by WSMZ (https://hbaguette.neocities.org/) that isn’t maintained anymore.
I have started maintaining that here: https://j4yc33.neocities.org/stuff/BannerAds
If you have a small website and want to explore more, there are about 17 sites on it right now, and hopefully I will be able to add more.
As time goes on, I might be able to use this database of self-submitted websites to create a sort of small web stumbleupon.
Marginalia search has a good explore button for random sites! I have thought about starting a Stumbleupon like tool, but I haven’t got around to it yet.
Stumbleupon was good, partially, because people submitted sites. That requires accounts and moderation though, and getting a community together is difficult.
