Kung Pow is one of the rare few movies to do the whole “we’re intentionally making a campy, so-bad-it’s-good movie” and actually succeed in emulating that aesthetic and also making something enjoyable to watch.

I’d say most of them are protestants, but there’s been a trend of a certain type of far-right “RETVRN TO TRADITION” wingnuts converting and becoming hardline tradcaths in the last decade or so. Those people absolutely would seethe over a black pope.

It’s important to remember that Jones is a grifter first and foremost. He has never sincerely cared about anything in his life beyond his own enrichment, and I don’t think this is a sign of him starting now. That said, I think it may still be significant that even hardcore grifters like Jones and Fuentes are starting to publicly speak against Trump. Grifters are always going to follow the money, so if Trump’s ship is sinking so fast that even Alex Jones sees it to be more profitable to start to move away from him, maybe the MAGA cult of personality really is starting to finally fall apart…

Granted, that’s all speculation, and Trump has managed to defy every previous prediction of the fall of his influence, so I don’t want to jump to any conclusions here, but after the Canadian elections, I feel like I have a bit more reason to afford myself a little optimism for the future…

I don’t think Morrowind needs a remake. A remake would likely try to smooth over the game’s rough edges, but the rough edges are a big part of what makes the game actually work, imo.

Now, at this point I don’t think I trust Bethesda enough to get an Oblivion remake right, either, but Oblivion was very much held back by technological limitations of the time, and in my opinion it hasn’t aged very well. I can at least see the potential of an Oblivion remake where they don’t have to be concerned about how much they can fit on an Xbox 360 disc.

Idiocracy gets the causes of its particular type of dystopia pretty catastrophically wrong, to the point of basically being inadvertently pro-eugenics (“society collapsed because stupid people wouldn’t stop breeding” implies that intelligence is exclusively tied to genetics, which is… a very bad take), but it sure seemed to be an indicator of just how brazenly dumb things could get.

Why does everything have to be so fucking stupid? Is it really not enough that we have to watch the destruction of democracy happen before our eyes? Must it really be carried out by a group named after an early 2010s internet meme featuring a Shiba Inu with bad grammar? Do we really have to read serious reporting about the criminal connections of a 19-year-old government employee called “Big Balls?”

I just never imagined the fall of American democracy would be so… inane.

The whitespace doesn’t bother me. Any IDE worth a damn will manage that for you. As for the type system, yeah, I strongly prefer static typing, but for simpler projects I can see the convenience of it.

My real issue with Python comes with managing a development environment when multiple developers are working on it. Dependency management in Python is a headache, and while in theory, virtual envs should help with synchronizing environments from machine to machine, I still find it endlessly fiddly with a bunch of things that can go wrong that are hard to diagnose.

Python is great for small scripts, proofs-of-concept, and such, but I wouldn’t write anything more heavy-duty than that in it.
