I understand that sentiment, but we’re talking about a billionaire who has a hand in running the world, because of his billions. Everything he does is newsworthy. That doesn’t mean I want to read all of it, and I don’t, but we need to be aware.

Plus it just fucking sucks to be a mother these days. Things are a lot more egalitarian than they used to be, but society still expects the uterus-having to take on more of the child caring tasks, and the emotional labor especially tends to still fall disproportionately on women. Our careers suffer, our bodies suffer if we bore (and possibly nursed) the baby/ies, our mental health suffers from the unrelenting societal pressure and neglect, plus all of the other shit that every other parent deals with as well. The women and mothers I know are fed up and so, so tired. (I’m not bitter… not at all… :D)

I love my children to pieces, but if I had seen an older sister go through this I might have opted out of having kids entirely. Two of my sisters have.

They need a red flag/extreme risk protection order (ERPO) law in their state, at the very least. If used, such a law could have prevented this. It’s one of the things that Moms Demand Action has been pushing for.

My friend volunteers at a food bank in a fairly affluent, bedroom community. She says they’ve seen massive increases in the number of clients they serve and the needs of those clients, all while resources are drying up. It’s rough out there.

Seriously!! I don’t mind the frequency so much as the absolute SHIT they’re serving up. Conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory. I’ve been skipping some of my favorite creators because I just don’t have the emotional wherewithal to deal with the bullshit every five minutes. It is truly enraging.

I also got a Nebula subscription. It’s not perfect, and I wish more of the people I follow were on there, but it helps so much, mentally. I don’t have to see crappy ads I didn’t sign up for, or feel guilty for using an ad blocker, because the people I follow are getting paid through the subscription.
