I’ve not kept up to date with this but wasn’t the problem that as soon as you run these CPUs they are getting permanently damaged? Surely they have to recall them?
100% agree, we are in a far better situation now. I was really hoping he would be beyond reproach, and we could completely turn a corner on the the political sleaze, even if it is just a few suits and football tickets.
The preferential treatment was that the body cams were just muted during the cover up and not all accidentally turned off for the entire encounter, not getting beaten up, tased or shot.
I mean as far as preferential treatment goes I’d take that deal, but the fact remains he was pulled out of his car, roughed up, taken to the floor and handcuffed for 18minutes for no reason when the cop should have been writing him a (dubious) ticket.
There are at least 2 cops here who should not be cops and the rest need to be retrained to ensure they step in if they see mistreatment like this again, for face being fired.
Just in case you don’t want to go to the tabloid hell that is the Express Petition Link pirg.org
I really thought they would wait a little longer after the Adblock crackdown. Oh well, Grayjay to the rescue!
My dad still uses my iPhone6, still perfectly usable, admittedly that is a 9 year old phone but I’m not seeing anything making that one obsolete in the near future.
As you say modern phones are not progressing that fast any more, it’s time we made Apple and Google support OS updates for longer. Apple certainly charge app developers enough for the burden to be on them and not the 3rd parties.
Writing this on an iPX which got its last update this week, 6 years old now but I’m just waiting for my banking apps to require iOS17. People will blame development costs for excluding older phones but there is no reason iPhones should not get iOS updates for 10+ years to save App developers the work.
I think my partners car was 15 years old when it was recalled for an airbag replacement, and if there is a security issue with a car I have aftermarket options available which Apple actively restrict.
I get your point, but we are talking about pretty much the only thing a person routinely spends more than £/€/$1,000 that they can’t modify or update themselves.
Why shouldn’t it last be updated if it’s still working perfectly and capable? I have a 10 year old laptop and a 24 year old car. But my bank is not restricting me from visiting their branch or website because my car or laptop is too old.
Ditto: reading this on an iPhoneX
The answer is 1:1, conservation of energy means that 1kWh of energy going into the AC you introduce near as makes no difference 1kWh of heat energy into the world. The wonderful thing AC does is amplify that cooling or heating by moving heat from one place to another meaning modern systems can move 5kW of heat using only 1kW of energy. In this example 6kW is outside but you have removed 5kW from inside so it’s still just 1kW net.
If you want to reduce the impact of using your AC you need firstly insulate the crap out of your house to prevent heat escaping or entering. Then you can delve into the world of Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery (MVHR), sealing all the air gaps in your home, at least quad-glazing, and finally passive cooling (sun shades over your windows).
Edit: sorry forgot to say for solar powered AC - which is 100% of my systems. I’m ignoring the grid for the above as the only systems I install are combined with at least 3x kW of solar and batteries so they never use grid power.
Which is fine… until YouTube premium gets a massive price increase to try and capitalise on subscription apathy.
You’re right I should have said “”accidentally””
