i am speaking from experience working in a large, k-12 [public] environment and watching brand new teachers discuss their degrees, and their pay.

In most cases of actual teachers in the government run, public school setting, who were trained as teachers, they end up having to get a Masters degree and additional continuing education for as long as they remain a teacher.

Another urban legend that needs to go away is the idea that teachers only work 9 months out of the year.

lets not forget that one of the methods of eroding public education is by reducing teacher education requirements.

they can pay less educated people less, and they do. you barely need a degree to be a teacher in the united states, and it pays so little it would be funny if it wasnt so incredibly sad.

i am not anti-threads, but i dont think they deserve a place at the table. no engagement.

one of the two main parties knows that if ‘everyone’ voted, they would no longer hold any power whatsoever. so they actively prevent democracy by making it harder to vote.

republicans are anti-democracy and have for decades put in place many obstacles for voting. they know that they only exist as a minority, and true democracy would limit their ability to fuck the rest of us over.

your premise seems invalid on its face. i would argue that google did not, actually, kill xmpp. that protocol is still in use today, its just not popular.

yep. this is exactly why i wont defederate threads. i want to give those users an option, but still be able to talk to their friends.

theres a bunch of … people… who think that meta will somehow take over the activtypub protocol and fuck everyone over, but that just cant happen with the consortium as it is.

the only thing people have to fear from meta on the fediverse is a better interface attracting more users than other servers… and if you cant solve that you deserve to fail
