Tariffs came in last Tuesday, were removed on Friday, came back on Sunday. I expect Tim Apple is loving the daily surprises.

It’s a part of the wider right-wing war on empathy. They see it as a weakness, not as fundamental to what we are.
Loathe thy neighbor: Elon Musk and the Christian right are waging war on empathy
Yes, Musk said ‘The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy.’ Here’s context
She’s a woman. It’s not a sure thing.
There’s always a problem proposing that social media companies be held legally responsible for the content their users create. If they can get sued for anything anyone says in a post, it could become impossible for anyone to run a social media site or even a web forum.
Its a question of the process and the criteria. I’m a Canadian citizen. I want to know that citizenship is a status I hold securely, not something the government can revoke if I do something they don’t like. There would have to be a rigorous process for it. But it would be better, I think, to deal with citizens under Canadian law and not to consider undoing their citizenship. Any power to remove it is ripe for abuse and a likely slippery slope.
Your criteria exclude much that is useful. For example, scientific studies that confirm theoretical predictions or replicate previous results, which are both essential to good science. Your emphasis seems to be entirely on challenging established understandings and institutions and shaking things up, but if that’s the only thing you respect as not “drivel”, you just end up pushing contrarianism. Sometimes it’s valuable to agree, or to come to consensus. Sometimes it’s valuable to delve into the subtleties of an existing way of understanding the world. Sometimes it’s valuable to explore how others already understand the world, while keeping quiet and not asserting anything of your own until you are well steeped in it. Not everything needs to be shaken up or disrupted all the time - to look only for this is the unwisdom of hubristic tech bros and conspiracists.
You can’t generalize about public transport across the whole of the USA. It’s very variable between different cities, and some have pretty good systems.
They have played us for absolute fools.
The problem is that, as people say, the people who are rich enough never lose. They can parse any situation into greater wealth. It’s us little people who always lose.
They expect single Americans everywhere to be celibate. Except themselves, because that’s different.
All that time and money invested in agent Krasnov is really paying off.
Would lying flat and wriggling your way to safety like a big wet human worm help? Or always traveling with a taller, damper friend?
More likely someone he didn’t like came from Norfolk VA or Norfolk MA or Norfolk NE, or Norfolk in England or Canada, and Trump’s team (or the LLM they used to write the document) doesn’t know the difference.
No, I’m on Fastmail. It’s full-featured and has a slick web UI, but it’s not as good for privacy as Tuta, Proton, etc. Also, although Fastmail is Australian they apparently host their servers in the USA.
My email provider will auto-generate aliases with no limit, and I also subscribe to Mozilla Firefox Relay, which allows me to invent email addresses on the fly and have them relay emails to my inbox. The advantage of the Firefox Relay is that it isn’t tied to the email provider so if I switch provider the aliases can still work.
Florida will sink either way.
Kids in the 1960s were the same, and the USA still sent them off to get killed, maimed, and traumatized for the rest of their lives.
I’m not the person you were asking, but:
Cash back credit cards reward you by refunding a percentage of your purchases made using the card. You can use this refund as a credit towards your monthly balance or as cash deposited into your bank account. Some cards offer a flat percentage on all purchases, while others offer higher percentages on select categories.

Of course, they wouldn’t be doing this if you weren’t paying them at least the refunded amount somewhere else - through fees, or through people’s average interest payments, or through price increases applied by the stores to cover the fees they pay to the credit card companies.
And when the police arrived they started questioning him about whether he agreed with Trump on deportations and Gaza. The police questioning people on their political views seems to be becoming standard in the USA.
“Why are they saying you pushed a priest?”
“They were trying to pull me away from the pulpit. I grabbed the pulpit and just held on. I didn’t push anyone. They had four guys grabbing me and dragging me off there.”
“What made you want to preach today?” “I’m worried about human beings, our brothers and sisters who live within our midst and are being targeted by the government.”
“What do you consider to be targeted by the government? What class of people are you …”
“Undocumented immigrants.”
“So you don’t agree with deportations and things like that?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Did you say anything like that?”
“I didn’t even get there.”
Looking at a copy of Gillcrist’s prepared remarks, the officer said, “So I see you mention Gaza and Ukraine in here. What’s your message with that?”
“They’re our brothers and sisters. When we stop seeing people that way it’s so easy to start making laws or enacting policies that harm them.”
Do not let this weasel anywhere near power. At best, he’ll send Canada down the fascist drain like the USA, and at worst he’ll hand Canada over to the USA.
