Can anyone fill me in on why there is so much hate on AV1? I use it every single day, and it has incredibility strong compression ratios at an equivalent quality even compared to h265.

This is REALLY bad. I’m a massive weather nerd, and I can say with high levels of certainty that both Canadian radars, and the ECCC data platforms are horrible.
And given that severe weather is only increasing, its only a matter of time before people die because of the lack of funding, and early detection.
I want to make it clear: our forecasts being terrible has nothing to do with the people making them. If you give them shit data, they can’t make strong predictions. Garbage in, garbage out. Give them the tools they need to do their fucking job.

To be totally honest I’m not sure you can harden jellyfin enough for public Internet exposure without also breaking basic functionality of the platform.
This is why everyone is always pushing so hard for a VPN/Tailnet of some kind. The public internet is a bit to much of a wild west to be exposing arbitrary services to it unless you really know what you’re doing.

This is a very bad framing. We (as a group) need to stop ranking distros based off ease of use, and start considering actual use cases.
For example; I would never use Arch for anything I use to make money. Rolling distros aren’t well equipped for absolute top level reliability that I’m looking for to do my job or run my servers.
It is, however useful for people who love to experiment, want the bleeding edge of software, and are less uptime dependent.
Furthermore, kali is built almost purely as a pen testing environment, and not for generic use.

I invested in some rechargeable NiMH AAs, and AAAs. Now sometimes I think i prefer some things with old school batteries just because of how convenient it is. I think you’re missing the point. The idea isn’t that leaving Netflix would affect discord; but rather that we should tie an exodus from discord to the rest of the de-cloud movement.
In other words, quitting discord won’t solve the root cause of why discord went to shit. The root cause are cartel-like cloud companies that are trying to gain leverage over society as large. The only way to reasonably solve it is to stop participating.
I mean I guess if they distributed movies on thumb drives it would be more convenient. But optical discs are used for a very good reason: they are extremely dense for the price.
I think I’m afraid to ask, but what is happening over there? It seems like the UK parliament is just stomping all over people’s privacy, and then, they do this kind of random crap. It’s shockingly efficient, I’ll admit, but kinda evil.
What are the nuances between APs and how they handle choosing a channel? Also, I was told at one point it’s better to “stack” on top of other SSIDs using the same channel than to go one channel higher (assuming there isn’t room higher up in the spectrum).

It’s a UI that sits in the terminal (thus TUI). Think htop, or btop; They are often ran from CLI, but offer more of a UI.
