Why are there so many posts about what’s happening on reddit? I don’t care what’s happening there. If I cared, I’d be there instead of here.
Some of the new fusion startups are looking into aneutronic fusion, in which most of the energy output is directly captured as electricity. They will be using steam-driven generators to take advantage of the waste heat but they will be a secondary component.

Surprise suicide?

And basically all frozen chicken in US stores has been pumped full of brine. That includes raw chicken parts that look otherwise unprocessed.

Go buy a clamp stretcher. Life changing!

That’s been a core value of the academy for decades. It’s a religious cult disguised as a military academy
Grotesque.
Named windows 365 because that’s how many days of the year you’ll pay for it (and hate it).
Working at my wealthy father’s fashion magazine… weird
I’m so glad I built a new system with 64gb of ddr5 just a month or two before memory prices started to skyrocket

First and foremost, it doesn’t matter at all that it was made in 2019. It plays every video I’ve ever thrown at it and it’s still getting updates.
Second, it’s very easy to replace the launcher, as already mentioned in the thread.
Third, a general purpose computer would almost certainly be more powerful in absolute terms, it would also be much worse in terms of usability for the specific purpose of playing videos and acting like a tv appliance. I’ve used HTPCs before and worked very hard at making them comfortable to use with a TV. No matter how hard I tried, they were always clunky. As soon as I got the shield, I never contemplated using an htpc again.

I agree. I’m very skeptical about their claims and so far I can’t find any evidence of 3rd party verification of anything. All the “news” about their batteries is just glorified press releases.

In the context of lithium-ion batteries, “solid state” means that there’s no liquid electrolyte, rather than meaning there are no moving parts.

Can we not link to nazi coddling sites like twitter please?
“As lithium-ion battery fires create their own oxygen during thermal runaway, they are very difficult for fire and rescue services to deal with. Lithium-ion battery fire control is normally only achieved by using copious amounts of water to cool battery cells.”

It should be noted that the OGL stuff for D&D is included in the free part, along with the ORC licensed rules from Paizo for Pathfinder 2e. I think there are one or two other systems included as well but I’ve never looked at them.
C’mon, how did you miss the obvious: plumpkins?
Normalize footie pajama daywear!
Lemmy will hate me for this but I subscribe to Amazon kindle unlimited. Since I read so much, I definitely couldn’t afford to pay for each book and the local library is pretty hit or miss on availability. Ultimately most of what I read is entertaining garbage but when you read compulsively like I do, the entertaining part is more important than the quality.
