I’m not even talking about good parents vs bad parents. I’m talking about the reasons people have kids. What is the positive reason to have children? I can’t think of one that isn’t a bad prediction, like wanting to bring a good person into the world. It’s not like raising children is a fun fair either. So it’s rewarding? Well first of all that’s selfish, second of all that’s something that people apply to literally every difficult situation they manage to get through.
So what’s the utilitarian reason for having kids? They’re all either selfish or prideful. Even if you’re a good parent.
Everyone is like “no you’re wrong” but I’m not seeing any actual counter arguments or examples of reasons to have kids that aren’t ultimately self-interested and/or bad speculation.
Well
Where is Congo?
Is it in the north?
I rest my case /s
Wish someone had done this for Reader
I think because I went through a placement agency that was pushier. Or maybe because the SVP that started up the office was more hands on then.
If you think most people who have kids have that expectation, you’re lucky.
What if your kid ends up not growing into anything? Becoming a neckbeard on fortnite and minecraft all day?
What if your kid has three kids before she’s 21 and keeps ending up with deadbeat guys and living in seedy apartments and living off SNAP?
I want them to do whatever they find fulfilling
And if they dont?
Think of it more like someone complaining that they lost money on crypto trading.
It’s very Billy Crystal SNL “oh I hate when that happens”
the very idea of a regular birthday party wasn’t really widespread before the era
Can we go back to that? I hate birthdays.
Wellllllllll
It actually wasn’t, but someone claimed it was, and would sue people who used it. Most would settle and agree not to use it. This is also why most chain restaurants had their own alternative birthday songs.
It was only that in 2016 somebody actually said to them “prove it” and took them to court, which found their copyright claim to be without merit.
Incidentally, there is no penalty for this.
I’m not about to @ people for having kids, but I have to say that in my experience, the whole idea is nothing but a conceit. People want kids for bad reasons. There’s really no sensible reason to have a child in the human world. Fine, go have kids, but don’t come back years later upset your kid is rebelling or not following your beliefs or doing bad things or not following in your footsteps or listening to your advice or whatever the fuck. You basically played a slot machine with no jackpot.
No!!! you can’t just reduce the number of peasants fighting for increasingly artificially reduced resources
Would actively fuck apps up because it would register as a file touch and break things that expected unchanged file content
Legit worked for a place that could never seem to land a new hire because they would take forever to decide on someone and when they finally went “okay” they’d have taken another job in the meantime.
They even went so far as to build a spreadsheet showing the direct correlation of that chronic indecision and it’s propensity to miss out on hires and it didn’t help.
I swore I read that mysql dbs will store multiple bools in a row as bit maps in one byte. I can’t prove it though
Which part?
Am I the only one still not seeing ads on YT with Ublock?
Can someone check in with the inventor of the web and ask him what the web’s business model is?
i’d just like to say this aged badly. not quite like milk, but still rancidly
Because the money goes to do-nothing administrators’ salaries, as well as urgent purchases as a result of bad or zero planning
