However, you’re likely right. They’re less idiotic and more malicious and nefarious. We’re back in the mode of “let’s use every possible method to try to control people.” What these assholes don’t realize is that eventually the people will rise up again and simply murder them. The rich have this coming as well. It’s only a matter of time and how much the masses are willing to put up with before the dam blows.

I’m not at all intending to advertise here, and I’m not at all affiliated with them, but in the past, I’ve sidestepped having to write scripts by using FileBot. It’s always just worked for me.

Well this is likely another step toward eliminating it altogether. Clearly they won’t sell many, if any, at that price point, which is egregiously expensive, and will use that as justification to end it altogether, including for those of us who have long been such a paid member (I got a lifetime Plex Pass when it was $50 back in like 2009 or 2010, whenever they first began the program). And they’ll act like they have no choice.

I suppose I need to set up Jellyfin and start looking at how best to convert family I have connected.

Yes it is. Language and meaning don’t simply change in 10-20 years unless forced upon (such as a conqueror forcing culture). Neologisms are a thing, and that’s fine (though I would argue “bling” is a garbage word :) ), but using “literally” to mean “not literally” is redefining the whole purpose of the word in such a short context of time simply because of ignorance. Therefore, I assert what I argued already – it’s not widely accepted – just widely misused.

This definitely has to do with AI. Because CEOs are losing their stupid minds over it. I agree with you in principle, but let’s not lose sight of the fact that this specific technology is what CEOs are drooling over. Even in my company I had to tell the owner/CEO, “What problem are you trying to solve with AI?” His response was his mouth being open with a dumb look on his face.

So no business should rely on AI (or, to your point, any software) that it becomes detrimental to their business or workforce should that access be revoked.
