Waking the walk and talking the talk are two separate things.
Maybe resist comparing women to animals in the future, Mr. Feminist.

It’s easier to argue with me than to have some introspection on the type of language you choose when talking about women.

You didn’t call her a wife, you called her an animal.

Shaming people doesn’t force them to change and calling a woman an owned animal is sexist whether you believe it or not.

It’s rude and sexist to tell a woman she’s an owned pet.

It will take time for this new space to feel like your own! This is very normal. Start building your new routines - make the tea or coffee in the morning, plan out your day, start to incorporate little touches of your own through the house. One day you’ll wake up and feel like this was always home.
Have you put up any pictures yet? That can really help make a space feel more personal.

Most people don’t live on their own immediately after leaving their parents house. Whether it’s roommates or a romantic partner.
Calling OP a pet is rude and frankly sexist regardless of what you think of her circumstances.
Lambrini Girls just came out with a new album, it’s a little green but a lot of attitude.
Amyl and the Sniffers have absolutely blown up over the last couple of years.
Die Spitz is a lot of fun.
Panic Shack is boppy.
There’s a punk community on Lemmy but as with anything it’s not super active.
The DIY ethic of the 90s seems to be gone.
I see glimpses of it coming back! Zines are making a come back, there’s newer punk bands joining the scene with fresh voices, and the youth are angry. I think we might be on the cusp of a big punk movement.
I feel you to my soul though. I could’ve written your comment myself. Coming of age right before the Iraq war and finding punk shaped my entire worldview.

It was just a clumsy way of explaining how they feel personally after coming out of the closet. I don’t think they meant offense.

It’s very subjective, don’t worry :)
I, too, was very very happy to fully come out of the closet and live openly as a queer person. It just depends on a lot of other factors as far as maintaining the optimism!
I find that so many punk songs can be described this way.

I prefer this account most of the time as it’s on an instance that doesn’t allow downvotes. It’s eye-opening what kind of comments and content get highly upvoted on Lemmy - it’s not all good. In fact, seeing some of the mass amounts of upvotes on sexist type comments is incredibly disheartening. It initially turned me away from Lemmy when I first joined.
Sometimes I do like to hop onto a different account and I utilize downvotes then. Usually try to save downvotes for vile opinions or things that don’t contribute to the conversation. It can be a good head’s up if a post is worth a curious glance. Hopping into the drama can be fun here and there.
I knew I liked you. Now I think I love you lol

So glad I sold my kid on the idea of “homemade Lunchables” years and years ago.
Propagandhi is a Canadian post punk band. They’ve had a dozen different styles over the years, and nobody can agree on which they did best. Personality I like their heavy Thrash album best, Today’s Empires, Tomorrow’s Ashes.
Ohhh I’ll need to check out more of Propagandhi’s stuff if there’s variance in style over their albums. I enjoyed their lyrics, but the music style of the stuff I checked out wasn’t quite my favorite. Thanks for the comment :)
“Get Your Brits Out” from Kneecap has been my jam lately lol

Edit:: OH THIS IS THE CASE Rep. JIM JORDAN KNEW ABOUT. Fuck that guy.
That’s it?! They let that man operate for 20 years knowing he was abusing boys and men in their care. 20 fucking years.
Strauss, who killed himself in 2005, was employed by Ohio State’s athletic department and medical staff for nearly two decades.
A 2019 report detailing the investigative findings said that Strauss had sexually abused at least 177 men, nearly all of whom were students, and that university staff who knew of the abuse failed to act. The abuse included groping and fondling of the students’ genitals and other acts under the guise of a medical examination.
News of the investigation and its findings prompted more than 500 plaintiffs to sue Ohio State, alleging they had been sexually abused by Strauss and that the school had shown deliberate indifference.
It should be much, much more.
Bad Cop Bad Cop
IDLES touches on politics, but isn’t entirely focused on it.
Bikini Kill for more focused gender politics.
The womensstuff community has been quite a positive corner of the fediverse for me.
I’ve also had great chats about music, punk specifically, and food with other lemmings.
