So it does go against the rules and we know it’s likely a lie. There is no reason to keep it.
I prefer to exercise positive intent, but you do you negative Nellie.
Sure you can be skeptical in your mind but perhaps engage with the person and try to find more information and then make a judgement.
I’m curious as to what you find so unbelievable. The fact that someone from NK is on the internet or that they found Lemmy. I know for a fact if I was from NK I wouldn’t be able to resist the curiosity of using the internet, consequences be damned.
The thing is - North Korea isn’t known to have accessible internet. There is an intranet, for people very privileged - but that would be monitored and you wouldn’t be on Lemmy.
This is just extremely unlikely, and based on other comments, the Korean looks Google translated.
Hello. I am an ordinary person from North Korea. You don’t need to believe or trust me. I have no gain from your trust or friendship. I just want to share an honest story about everyday life in North Korea.
Many of you may not have the opportunity to meet a North Korean person directly. That is understandable, as most of us have limited access to the internet. My English skills are not very good, so I will speak in Korean and translate it into English.
I am not part of the privileged class. I am an ordinary person like you, with a job that allows me to work and use the internet. Thanks to this internet connection, I can access websites like Lemmy and Reddit. Of course, I also use things like TOR.
It’s okay if you don’t believe me. However, I will do my best to answer any questions you have about my country.
I think this will be the last post I make with this account. I have other accounts on Lemmy, but I won’t disclose them to maintain my anonymity.
What’s the cuisine like there? I enjoy south Korean cuisine, is food in the north similar?
i want to answer this but im not a north korean and this thread is not about me. however i am from reddit
how’s the food from Reddit? Is it similar to the food in Lemmy?
tastes like shit if I’m honest
Do you know if there are significant differences between the Korean language of North Korea, and the Korean language of South Korea?
Or are they still very similar?
I only really know one word in Korean… I would sound it out as ’ gam zeh hah mee da '.
I asked some local, older aged, shop owners of South Korean descent how to say ‘thank you’ in Korean so I could thank them with more respect when I shop at their stores… I may be pronouncing or spelling my pronunciation wrong.
Apoarently it is 감사합니다 in Korean… but that is likely South Korean, and it seems that South Korean and North Korean use different words, or pronounciations, for at least some terms…
It would be interesting to learn if there are more differences between the two forms of Korean. :D
It’s only been 80 years since country was artificially divided, and 70 years since US prevented democratic unification. I would be interested if OP/NK have access to SK culture/media. If they have the same words for computer and fax and email for example.
Yes !! Accent is different … Formal is the same almost . If I hear I know someone is from NK or SK but sometimes not when wrote .
What’s your opinion on China
China is good !! They are the biggest NK partner … Other countries dont like us and China helps . We help China too . Its friendship .
Have you ridden on the Pyongyang metro? What was it like?
Where’s your favourite place to go in North Korea?
What’re some of your favourite books and films?
I like the metro … It is big . The trains are old … They come from Germany from a long time ago … They are old but are very good in this day . Good condition . I do not live in Pyongyang . I like falls close to Wonsan and beach in Wonsan !! I like a lot of movies like 72시간 … 벼꽃 .

Wow that is pure evil.
I remember this. Really crazy how this was all orchestrated. The girls were trained to be part of pranks unaware that they were going to commit murder at the end.
Is it true that most, if not all, books in DPRK were written by your Dear Leaders?
I can not say most … A lot are !! We have libraries … They have many books . We dont read politics only . We have libraries and they have books from entirety of the world … France … England … Books like the little prince and moby dicky.
What is something the outside world has that you wish you had in North Korea?
Is there North Korea TV beside news? What is your favorite North Korean TV show/movie?
Favorite song or musical instrument?
Do you believe the picture of Kim Il-sung’s tumor is real? Or are you aware of the picture?
Do you know any other languages?
North Korea going hard on chatgpt and LLMs?
People will watch NASA rockets launch into space. I know it’s different, but do ppl get to attend missile tests?
What sports are popular in North Korea? Your favorite sport?
Sorry for all the questions
I wish everyone can acess the internet … there are many things and informations here that NK people would like !! Information flows slow in NK … we have to use the tv and radio.
My film that I like most is recently 72시간 .
I like violin . I can play .
I have not seen this picture .
I learn French .
No … People do not use AI .
No !! We see in TV . Normal people do not see in real life every day !! Military and government only a lot times .
I like soccer … Many people play too !! And volley .
Do most people buy into the propaganda or is it just pretending to out of fear?

So like living in the US as a non-white
I’m here if you need to talk.
What do you or people around you do for work
I cant give much information … They work normal work . Government … police … shops .
Send a pic of your currency like a coin or something I’m curious
How are you able to access Lemmy? I thought internet access is restricted. What’s the general internet ability for most people?
Zero. OP clearly is in a somewhat elite home, assuming this is legit.
No … I do not come from elite home . I have reasons that allow me .
I am able to acess because I use TOR … I use TOR to hide !! But I have acess to the normal internet !! It is rare … Not many NK people have .
What’s your favorite lie you’ve told to a bunch of strangers on Lemmy?

Sorry mate, but you just blew your own cover.
