The bus driver just yelled at me for standing up when we were approaching my stop, he said I had to sit still until the bus stopped. But he didn’t say anything to other people who did this before me. And when I got out, he rudely said that drivers should be thanked before getting off, which I would have done if he hadn’t yelled at me, аnd again, he did not say anything to the woman who silently got out before me. I dont know what it was, maybe he thought I was a kid because I look young, or maybe he just wanted to yell at someone, either way my evening is ruined🫠

Ignore him and keep doing your thing.

When he says drivers should be thanked you reply “only the decent ones”

I don’t think I’ve ever been on a city bus that didn’t have people just standing, and while thanking the driver is nice and I’ll do it if I exit the front leaving from the middle is always an option.

I’d personally just assume they were having a bad day and move on, but yeah, getting fussed at for no reason is annoying.

Just like you the thoughts would bounce around in my head for the rest of the evening.

He was probably just having a bad day.

If you want distraction from the thoughts bouncing for a while I’d love to hear about a pleasant interaction you’ve had with a stranger. I talked to a lady the other day and we shared stories of what furniture our puppies had eaten. Feel free to elaborate as much as you like.

If you’re confident you did nothing to deserve that anger, why worry about some stranger having a bad day? Even more so: why let that ruin your evening?

I know plenty people who don’t like me and that’s fine. At least, I’m fine with it.

You are none of those things.

You were just in the wrong place at the wrong time and some crabby git unloaded on you.

You are fine, but he was miserable then and is likely miserable now, and will be miserable in the future…

While you will be awesome, happy and have a good day, and good friends, today and all your tomorrows.

Get it? Got it? Good. :)

I’m going to wager you are younger than 30 and look absolutely fine.

Sounds really, like that guy was just miserable.

Never let crabby old assholes make you question yourself, your looks, or pull you down in any way. Esp. not when you have done nothing wrong.

You are beautiful, and in 40 years you will look back at yourself in photos and what you see - it will be breathtaking when you realize just how gorgeous you were in 2026.

            (Trust me on this…)

If it makes you feel better I’m confrontational to anyone I see bullying others, regardless of how handsome/beautiful they are 😂, these proverbial “hands” don’t discriminate (I don’t hit anyone I will cut you with words though)

If you looked like anything, you probably only looked like someone who wouldn’t stand up for yourself or berate him right back. If you are a woman, you can claim some space by standing straight, shoulders back, and channeling some inner Karen energy.

Not acknowledging it is the best way to go. People will only think about what a dick the bus driver was, and likely will think little to nothing about you. If you fight back, people will be pissed for holding them up longer, not think more of you

I understand that but my question remain: do you really think you need to worry about what a random person can think about you? There are 8 billions plus people to worry about, then. And if you think you should, have try to understand why?

I know a few people, I could name them, that would like to slap me in the face (because I dare live a different life) and I have little doubt that many perfect strangers would also not like me because of that live. I know many others would not like like me because they think I’m too bald, or too bearded, too tall or too thick maybe. Or because I don’t talk enough, or too much. Or because don’t like bananas. Because I don’t have a TV at home, no Netflix, and so on.

There are as many reasons to not like me (or hate me) as there people willing to waste their time finding reasons to not like me. And like I said, I’m fine with them not liking me, why should I not be? But I will not waste a second of my own precious time worrying about their opinion. They’re strangers.

There is this thing called ‘Stoicism’, an old Roman philosophy that could be grossly summarized like this: it’s a waste of one’s energy to worry about things one can’t change. It happens one can’t change other people’s opinion.

Thumbnail is a woman, which makes the story a bit clearer.

I’m a big lumberjack-type guy, nobody bothers or interrupts me even when I’m making a bad mistake, and they should.

People are assholes, and once the lid pops it is difficult to put it back on. What you did could have been the metaphorical straw that broke the camel’s back.

Don’t take these people seriously unless you feel that you have wronged them. They are dealing with their own shit, and you shouldn’t let them drag you into it. Apologize and move on. Anything they say after that is their poor attempt to cope with the situation.

I would guess they don’t care for you wanting people (at least those you are interested in) to only find your race attractive. That doesn’t mean they want you to suffer. It just means they don’t like what you said.

Them sharing it isn’t helping anyone here, though, since your sexual preferences aren’t the topic.

Don’t let someone like that ruin your evening. They’re only putting anger and fear out there in the world. If you refuse to accept their anger as legitimate, which it sounds like it isn’t, then giving them and you grace and compassion is an easy way to convert anger into nothing and not ruin your day.

i presume he’s picking on you because you’re a young woman and he sees them as “easy targets” to release anger upon. Honestly happens to me a bit too, some people get annoyed or jealous when they see younger people.

I have massive anxiety problems so stuff like this sends me into a pretty lengthy panic attack that will only grow worse as my brain piles on everything else I’ve done wrong lately.
