Title. Obviously youtube is out. Google results have been unhelpful. I tried Pornhub, but no dice. I wanna learn how to shave my twig and berries nice and smooth, because I’m a considerate partner - but I’m tired of trial and error and nicking myself on the nuts.

A few tips. No scissors or electric shavers. Pull areas to be tight and flat. Go slow at first. Use a razor you’ve used a couple times so it’s not at it’s sharpest, it’ll still get the job done but be less likely to cause major cuts.

Also general advice, if your partner doesn’t fully appreciate the results or effort then stop trying. I’ve never gotten criticized about a “full bush” or specifically complemented on a “smooth finish” so I stopped trying. Not worth the hassle if your partner thinks you’re already sexy. More sit-ups or push ups might be more appreciated.

Probably not the norm but I’ve gotten pinched by an electric once. Using a razor I might get some nicks but I often don’t even notice it happened until a few seconds later.

I get one or two nicks/pinches per shave on my electric shaver, but for me its worth it because the resulting shave is smoother/softer, I don’t need lubricants or shaving creams, and the chances of getting ingrown hairs is pretty much zero

      Thanks!

As for my partner’s appreciation - I pretty frequently seek out new partners, so I like to make a good first impression. So even if a current partner doesn’t mind, I want to be able to be ready to make that good first impression whenever the opportunity presents itself.

And yeah, lol, I actually did a core + push up + OHP workout yesterday. Goal is press BW and dead 2x BW! Mirror check today showed some okay ab and oblique pop despite being more than 5lbs over my goal weight

I don’t think can be taught. At least not on a video. You just do it at it’ll get easier over time. I’ve been doing it for about 20 years and I went from “this is impossible” to “what even was hard about this” in just a year or so.

You have to find a routine that works for your skin and hair growth pattern. It’s a bunch of trial and error until something finally works.

    Hot shower

Get it warm and loosened up first

    Gillette mach 3

Shave toward the tip (so, shave down from above, shave up from below, etc)

Huh I’ve thought about making one and putting it up on porn hub but figured someone already had.

I’ve been shaving for decades thought. I use a Harry’s razor (way cheaper than “premo” bs brands and works just as well) Don’t use shitty disposable razors.

Use a CREAM shaving cream like “Cremo” not the foam crap. In a pinch hair conditioner can work but it’s not good either.

If it’s your first time trim it as short as you can before shaving. But never use an electric trimmer near and loose skin.

Rinse the blades often build up means they aren’t working.

The more times you pass over the same patch of skin the more irritated it will get.

    Do not rush.

    It’s easiest in the shower.

The main way to cut youself will be pressing to hard on the blade. But the way that will always cut you is letting the blade slide sideways. To avoid this alway lift your blade off your skin once done with a stroke or if you have to stop a stroke.

Shave regularly. It’s easier to keep it up rather than redo it. I find every other day or every 3rd day works for me. If you put it off more than 5 days you’re in regrowth danger zone. It will get itchy and if you scratch it you will end up with a sort of rash from irritation. If that happens it’s probably the worst time to shave because your skin will be bumpy. If you do shave it will relieve the irritation but you need to be extra careful.

Also as much as you want to be smoooooth it ain’t going to happen. Petting with the grain will be smooth but full prickle removal is basically impossible. I can get mely nuts fairly smooth with much effort and practice but the pubic patch is a no go. Maybe it’s just me but the one time I did try to go against the grain in my pubic area it was smooth for a day and then irritated to hell and I ended up with bad ingrown hairs. Not worth it.

This part is main for males everything above applies to anyone I would assume.

Cold water = Shrinkage but can also make shaving easier for someone new. However because your sack is all scrunched up you’re much more likely to have a patchy shave.

Warm water = Loose skin. This can make shaving trickier but is easier to get all the areas.

Don’t be afraid to stretch that shit out like a paint canvas just make sure you have a firm grip before shaving a stroke.

Anyway hope this helps kinda just info dumped while laying in bed so might forgot something. feel free to ask questions.

Sure do, love giving oral but hate hair in/near my mouth. Since I would request a partner shave for me I figured I would return the favor without being asked since I love receiving just as much.

Yeah and not one bit of AI. I have yet to really set up lemmy on my desktop, maybe I’ll do that today, still trying to understand how it works as it’s a bit more effort compared to reddit.

I would only add that if YMMV with Cremo try baby oil, also works as a moisturizer after as well.

Source: dated a stripper who shaved daily.

I’m sure men’s razors have probably improved over time for this use-case, but I find good women’s blades to be more gentle on the sensitive skin and I feel like it’s a closer, smoother shave with no razor burn or bumps even if used with minimal shaving creme. I theorize that women’s razors are designed specifically for body shaving, and for example, legs are a large amount of real estate to keep shaved; where traditionally men’s razors were only “designed” for the face.

I also found a silicone “stropper” somewhere a decade ago to use with disposable blades, which I quickly use just before, that extends their life quite substantially.

Because I don’t really care if I’m shaved or not and I’m willing to put some effort in so my partners will have a better experience?

      • Well, you did it for your partners experience, but it didn’t need to be. As the choice is yours.

Some people were saying they like it hairy and that you should think about your partner before shaving. I don’t think that’s right.

I said in OP that I’m doing this for my partners benefit. It is reasonable for people to tell me that I should ask my partners their preference if I am doing it for their benefit. Even if I didn’t say that, it is a reasonable suggestion to make, as most people care about their partner’s experience as well as their own.

This really seems like some kind of ethical issue for you, and imo, if you really care that much, you should do some reflection on why it is such a big deal for you, since no one else here gives a shit

Does your partner want this? Every partner I’ve ever had thought he was doing me a favor by becoming hairless in some way, shaving his chest or manscaping all the way down to the skin and I hate it! Keeping things tidy is one thing, shaving down to the skin is another. So unless your partner has expressed a desire for you to do this, ask them first! If you already know this is something they want from you, well good on you for trying to do it the best way possible

I pretty consistently have new partners, so I can’t say. Really my main concern is going from bush to shaved or trimmed quickly and easily without cutting myself.

There are actual shavers made for this, skin close shave without any chance of knicking the bits. Done in like 5 minutes. Mine has a foil in the middle and two tiny teeth shavers on each side to trim the long stuff.

Get some Nair. Just rub it on all the places with hair, avoid the tip. Wait 10 minutes, then rub the hair off with a wash cloth in the shower. Way smoother of a shave than I’ve ever gotten with a razor, and soooo much easier and more comfortable to do.

I second this. Unless you are allergic to the compounds, this is the best way. The hair will not come back sharp, but smooth and thin. And you don’t have to repeat it for a couple of weeks.

Don’t shave! You are much more likely to get an infection down there where it’s moist and there’s minimal air flow. Use a set of trimmers with a #1 guard.

I use a foil-style electric. No cuts and no irritation. Do NOT use a rotary-style electric. You don’t want a lift and cut system tugging on your short and curlies. If I use a regular 5 blade manual razor, even if I don’t cut myself, I get irritation and itchiness for days after.

Yeah, my foil style electric is what I have been using, and I constantly nick myself, or else it leaves little tiny blood spots.
