The B.C. government is moving to seize the location of a Victoria cannabis “compassion club” amid allegations that the application is legally dubious and will deprive people of cannabis they use to manage medical conditions.
The B.C. Director of Civil Forfeiture applied this month to seize 1625 Quadra St. from its landlords, who currently rent the space to the Victoria Cannabis Buyers Club.
In its application, the director said the street-front commercial unit should be forfeited to the government because it was used to facilitate the illegal sale of cannabis.
