I think what OP is complaining about is the use of the term “Senate” without clarifying that it’s in fact the United States Senate. Although it’s pretty clear from context if you know anything about world affairs.
A Canadian public broadcaster should use the term to refer to the Senate of Canada, unless specified otherwise. I don’t think we should have a Senate, but we do, and as long as we do that is The Senate.
