In Sept. of 2025, I noticed that the Google Maps car came around and took a new picture of my house and driveway. At the time, we were getting a concrete patio poured in the back, so the patio furniture was in the driveway. I noticed my dog was peeing in the picture and sent it to my wife and had a laugh.

Cut to today. I went back to look for him again and he was gone. Not only was he gone, but the angle of the shot had changed. If they had come back at a different time, then why do the clouds align when I move back and forth?

What doesn’t make sense is that he should still be there. It’s the same day, same time and everything. I can tell because when I go over to my neighbor’s front yard I can still see him peeing here:

The clouds align in the shot where we see him from the neighbor’s yard to the new shot where is gone.

Where did my dog go?

Picture of the dog in question:

      1. The clouds are exactly the same from one to the other image as you move down the street. I can’t explain it any better.

      2. No, I didn’t. Even if I did, what are you going to do with that information?

        No, I didn’t.

Yes, you did, because people can look for those exact images - possibly with AI assistance nowadays…

Even if I did, what are you going to do with that information?

Me, nothing, someone else, who knows…

This is interesting story. So either: you are very observant with amazing attention to detail and the diligence to figure out the details of how things work, or you think dogs pooping are just plain comical. I applaud you for either.

He’s to the right of the fence post, second photo is from farther along the street, changing the angle. Note the lack of a gap from post to garbage cans in the second shot.

He would be hidden because of that angle change.

I like the shot you chose of your dog for the last image, his head tilted like he’s confused, hahaha.

If you’re sure it’s the same day, then I’ll bet they take far more photos than they actually use. Those photos go into some database somewhere, and they have a program which goes through them all and picks the ones it needs to generate street view.

What must have happened is that they’ve made a change to that software for some reason, or possibly they’ve gotten new photos somewhere nearby, so they’ve run it again and it’s picked different photos to use this time

All the photos are from the same date and time. I think I see his tail behind the furniture, but I’m wondering why it changed the photo. Maybe, like you said, it chose a different photo.

I recently witnessed a Streetview car going down my street. It was audibly taking several photos per second.

I don’t think so. Nothing of your dog seem to be crossing the fence post and on the new picture, from a narrower angle, the furniture align neatly with the fence post.

So everything not crossing the line between the fence post and the furniture wouldn’t be in view.

Does that make sense ? It’s a bit hard to explain what I mean haha

Why the picture changed I have no idea.

I’m no forensic image analyzer, but to me what you encircle looks more like the hinge and whatever is behind the fence.

If you look at the tip of the tail of your dog, it seems to high to be what you marked.
