you do realize that the walls were only around the town which was 1 km² maybe and like less than 1% of the total land area and especially no walls were built around farmland. also there were hardly any nomads anymore in medieval / early modern europe. (except if you’re referring to the mongol raiders.
Walls provide greater logistics, safety and resource protection which enables defense of lands outside the walls. Walls don’t just protect the lands within them.
true. it provides better defense stats. i guess that’s better than if everyone has better offense stats because otherwise you’d have constant warfare everywhere (if attack is cheaper than defend).
