Once, I moved into a house that, for reasons I cannot possibly begin to explain, had hundreds of kilograms of potatoes just rotting in the basement. Like over 200kg. “It was a dump” doesn’t even begin to describe that place.
I can’t remember what we did with them, but after reading about this I know I had a heart attack, thinking what do you do in Western Australia if the former tenants leave you with hundreds of kg of rotting potatoes? Does the potato corp handle bulk potato disposal? What if I’m on the way to the dump with them?
Well, if the info from the post is anything to go from, you would indeed call the potato corps and I imagine they would either deal with it directly or provide you with an exemption in case you get stopped by the police with your potatoes.
My mother used to buy like 8 or 9 50lb (22kg) sacks every fall to store in the basement to last the winter… it was pretty common back in the day, but not so much anymore.
But even now we’d be close to that limit…I usually go together with my daughter and get two boxes (22kg x2=44kg) of potatoes from the local harvester’s that we split. From there a box is about $22. (This is in Canada, and yes we’re Irish.)
Ok, but if someone here has ever had more than 50 Kg of potatoes in their car: why? What did you do with so many?

Imagine getting pulled over and being asked if you have a license to be carrying so many potatoes all at once.
You got a loicense for that, mate?
After a hefty fee, I’m sure.

Ah, got it. Makes sense to stock up if you eat them a lot, especially if you buy from a local harvester as is your case.
In my head it was a funny image of someone with a small car like myself, filled to the brim with potatoes, heading off from a supermarket
